It gets into "God only knows" territory because we haven't been there and one party is acting beyond squirrelly.

As long as there's no particular concern about military mutinies en masse and all that sort of joy, then the polling places simply won't be burning. We'll be really irritated at having all our devices in "Flat Out Spy 100% now now now" mode, but it's still "We could vote".

Happen to think there's no way the Governors have more than a week to regain total control of their states. Some places might be tomorrow. This is not an honest, organic, "everyone is united in true anger" sort of thing - so the protests last as long as no one exerts control.

This happens to be one of the reasons for the Electoral Collage. "Oh, looks like Georgia has problems, good thing we can sort of judge without needing a vote-by-vote count"

The second it's "Full Military" and "Insurrection", all the discussions of "Troops" and "Barricades" and that sort shifts to Drones, Satellites, and the NSA peering through the phones, fridges, and whatnot.

At least, that's the argument I'd take. The "Governor's failing to maintain control" and "Protect Rights of All" in their state is the key line for the Insurrection Act.

Insurgency

Merely freezing the assets and taking the direct agitators out of the mix leaves you with the opportunists, the honest 'here to protest', and the press.

It's going to look like outright fascism if they try to pull that.

Even the media couldn't spin a story to portray antifa as the good guys if they directly prevent the democratic process.
