That's what jury nullification is for. And pardons.

Kill the left. Sort out the mess afterward.

Unless you are 100% justified and prepared to pull the trigger.

The vast majority of firearm self defense incidents are deterrent. He was totally justified to brandish and display and threaten. That wouldn't be the case if he started shooting at the crowd.

He did the right thing IMO, avoided having to use it, by showing it.

You did the right thing. I wouldn't accuse you of trying to escalate simply because you made the correct choice to show it and not use it. You regret not pulling the trigger? You avoided violence. That's how the vast majority of firearm self defense incidents play out.

If Strickland wanted to escalate, he would have instigated, made a remark, and kept it hidden so they weren't aware of the threat. One person taking a swing at him gives him the excuse to use it. Putting on a MAGA hat would have done the trick.

I get that philosophy but I would argue when pursued by a large crowd, brandishing could be a lot safer especially when you have people coming from all sides.

This is the philosophy I use and that I was taught as being the most legally defensible. The only reason that I would not fire my weapon once drawn in a situation is if by the time I had acquired my target, the target was already running away. Of course I would only draw if my life depended on it.

You wait until you're being shot at to put your vest on?

There's a reason no police or sheriffs or any armed agency anywhere follows that philosophy. Your weapon is an effective deterrent. And if you're leaving it holstered until it's already time to pull the trigger, you're going to die.

There isn't a single serious tactical firearms instructor who agrees with that.

You're a lot less likely to go to jail if you can avoid shooting someone.

You don't need a bunch of tactical training, but if you're carrying a firearm, it's your responsibility to familiarize yourself with the basics. IMO. Particularly when it comes to your local laws regarding duty to retreat and brandishing. etc.

It was a heated moment, and Strickland shouldn't have pointed the gun. That was a mistake that gave the terrorist supporters ammunition to use against him (even though it was tactically correct). Drawing it and showing it, at low ready, probably would have been the best middle ground choice.

Except for every single firearms instructor on the planet.

There isn't one single instructor anywhere who will tell you it's wrong to display your weapon to prevent a threat and to avoid having to shoot someone. Not one. And you can't point to one. There isn't one who will tell you to keep it holstered until it is already time to shoot. Not one.

No, you don't. Sorry buddy, you misunderstood whatever it was that they told you.

"How are you going to convince the DA"

By speaking English and explaining what happened. Just like the vast majority of firearm self defense instances in America where nobody gets shot and the victim doesn't get arrested.

Look at the video upload date, 2016, but still related.

Yes, it's from the previous BLM riots.

Denver PD Chief is marching with the protestors. Yet they place a week long curfew on all Denver citizen.. Im about to lose my shit. The cops are not our friends here.. They are facilitating this bullshit. I have friends in law enforcement, I have supported them for a long time. But between their selective enforcement during Covid.. Now this.. Im done. I know there are still some good ones in there. But the excuse of "just following orders" is no longer going to fly.

This is why our founders only recognized the Sheriffs as law enforcement (and the Marshals but they're only for internal government law enforcement). Sheriffs are elected, so there is an inherent degree of accountability to the will of the voters.

Here in Portland, the mayor is also the police Commissioner. The mayor appoints the police Chief. Our mayor, is a BLM/ANTIFA terrorist supporter, and that means the police are beholden to that agenda and those policies. That's our problem.

The US Constitution, including the 2nd Amendment is the basis for authorities to pass any law. Any state or city that doesn't allow someone to defend themselves with a firearm, should lose their status as a city or state and be turned into a territory, with no electoral votes or members of congress.

The 2A Trumps such laws, and POTUS needs to remove any SCOTUS judges that can't understand that and replace them with ones that will uphold the Constitution.

You'd be stupid to do that in Portland. Gotta pick your battles.

2
stonepony [S] 2 points ago +3 / -1

Which is like saying he was stupid for recording. Was stupid for speaking. Was stupid for existing where violent terrorists haven't given him permission to exist.

IMO it would have been stupid to allow a violent racist terrorist mob to smash his brains out.

That's beside the point. How were they able to pin so many felonies on him? That sounds like he violated several Oregon laws. I'm not here to argue the Constitutional validity of Oregon's concealed carry policy. But that's what I meant when I said "pick your battles".

3
stonepony [S] 3 points ago +4 / -1

And OJ was innocent... Because a retarded biased jury said so.

They claimed the "peaceful protesters" weren't a threat. Therefore he was illegally brandishing (multiple counts) and menacing and making terroristic threats. etc.

"pick your battles", in other words, allow them to stomp his brains out. Because that was his option. Unless you agree with the Portland libtwit justice system that claims these people weren't an aggressive violent mob.

Today I seriously thought about bringing my 9mm with me on the way to work, for reasons you mentioned-- what if I get stopped at an intersection and I get blocked by rioters? But I didn't. Because I don't have a CCP. Not sure how easy it is for you to get a concealed carry permit in your area, but in California it's extremely difficult, and it doesn't cross over county lines. That's probably by design in this Democrat shit hole. Therefore I've equipped myself with other means of self defense, like pepper spray and a telescopic baton. It's not a firearm but it's better than nothing, plus I'm not making myself a target for felonies. Like I said. Pick. Your. Battles.

2
stonepony [S] 2 points ago +3 / -1

He did pick his battles. He chose not to have his brains smashed out by a mob of violent racist skateboard swinging terrorists.

If you get stuck in a traffic jam tomorrow, and the lynch mob drags you out of your truck, you'll wish you had more than a rape whistle. Yelling at the lynch mob "I'm picking my battles!", might not save you either.

Uh, yeah, that's not gonna happen. My SUV's turbocharged engine will fling them 12 feet into the air before that even has a remote chance of happening. No need to risk carrying a firearm for that (IN COMMIFORNIA.) If you look at the way that guy in the video handles his firearm, it's not very good. Flimsy arms protruding. Very very disrespectful. It doesn't appear that he has the correct knowledge to even carry a firearm. Fuckin sideways, are you kidding me? This is not an Compton drive by. Now Portland's gonna fuck him with a bunch of felonies.

1
stonepony [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

Your truck can fly to avoid traffic jams? That's incredible. You won't risk brandishing a firearm to protect yourself from an attacking mob, because that might be illegal, but you'll speed up to massacre 30 people who haven't attacked you yet...

Personally, I'd take the bogus brandishing charges, over the multiple murder charges.
