I think non-lethal means will stop this, as long as everybody's arrested and has a record. Other people will see that and stop. Even without excessive non-lethal force.

"Overwhelming force" can be as simple as overwhelming numbers. Plus each LEO is many times stronger physically than any of the rioters I've seen. Now if rioters pull a weapon or start shooting? Shoot to kill, but that individual only. Our LEOs shouldn't be exposed to RoE that expose them to risk unnecessarily.
But out of all the tons of rioters I've seen, I haven't seen anyone have a gun, let alone pull one. Full riot gear including baton is "overwhelming force," if you're not facing a gun. Arrest with real consequences will thin out the innocent bystanders, paving the way for more serious action but most importantly, fewer numbers to contend with.
Last night in STL, four coppers were shot. Also a retired Chief was shot and killed. Gloves are off.

I don't believe you care about optics. I don't know what anyone believes until the tell me. Usually I don't hesitate to point out if their stated belief doesn't match their actions I've observed.
I don't call it "optics" when people are dead that didn't need to be killed. I don't think going in blasting is necessary right now, and we have very little to demonstrate that it is because most non-lethal means at our disposal simply haven't been tried. Authorities can ruthlessly pursue, arrest, and charge criminals. And that's our real concern here, criminals.
More than enough numbers of LE / NG exist to make # 2 work. It's deliberate destruction that these measures haven't been taken, not a mistake. And that is different from a "nanny State."

The only legitimacy any government ever had on this continent is the consent of the governed. We cannot consent to their wanton murder of our fellow countrymen, going back to CCPvirus and denying sick people medicine. That started with Cuomo. It's extended to at least 40 Governors. This riot bs adds more charges.
We win a lasting victory via class action lawsuits covering their every act of tyranny, and have them die in prison as paupers. Send a clear message as to who the power is in the Country. It's always been We the People. It's absolutely essential to send that message loud and clear to any future would-be tyrants. Now we know it won't last 245 years, but it will last more than 20.

I think that your downvoters aren't understanding that while optics are bullshit most of the time and don't excuse inaction, the optics of gunning down your own people even if they are rioting actually do matter. A lot. So much so that Trump cannot act without massive public support. He has to be doing the will of the people when he overrules the governors and sends in the military. Even then, while they need to be able to defend themselves, they really need to use the least amount of force that gets the job done. Again, the optics of shooting your own people matter.
And this is coming from someone who would happily watch every single rioter get executed. I would love that: but it doesn't help us win. And winning the war against the communists is the most important thing.

Agreed, mostly. I would say that avoidable killings, even if potentially justified, are more than "optics." Dead people are more than just statistics.
Oh and "all lives matter" isn't a racist thing to say. BLM just doesn't like it, that's all. Every black life matters. Every white life matters. Every life matters. This is a truism, and it should go without say. It shouldn't cause offense. BLM isn't speaking out about the many black lives snuffed out by rioters. We should be keeping a tally of them. Lots of attention has been drawn to the 77 year old retired (black) cop killed, as there should be. But we should have numbers to counter the BLM. The implication of course is that BLM isn't really about saving black lives. Hopefully they will cease their cooperation with antifa of their own accord. Certain things we're more effective letting people draw their own conclusions.
DJT certainly knows what's up. And I certainly don't know the very best thing for him to do in this situation. We know no matter what he does, MSM will vilify him for it.. There are certain thoughts that come to mind here: any reasonable plan well executed is better than no plan. Perfect is the enemy of good.
Letting D hellholes get destroyed and then splitting the Nation into red vs blue is one possible solution. Many very successful people think this will ultimately have to happen, and will be the trend worldwide over the next 15 years. I'm just pointing out this might be a good solution SOON. I like that in the short term. The real issue is two areas in the long term:
Education and Immigration.
Those two are going to be the long term parts.
As for the short issue there is something that needs to be added.
We need numbers, organization, and will.
The thing we lack the most is numbers, second is organization, and the will to do it.
We are a couple hundred thousand to several million at most. In order to do something like that we need half of those numbers to be present to enact it. The problem is a fourth or more can get fired, be targeted, or otherwise scared. That seems to be a no brainer, but the fact is fear is a hard thing to get over. Getting people over that is going to be the hard part. The recent riots and mayhem though should be used. Not saying take advantage of a bad situation, but to point out that is the future if these people don't stand trial.
Organization is another issue because no matter what ANTIFA is going to show up and try to cause a scene. That is both a problem and solution. The problem is as stated cause a scene. A solution can be to use it as a trap where a small group is there, Antifa group shows up to try and do their acts of terrorism, and then have a larger group surround them and arrest every single one. That is both going to be difficult, and a solid long term victory. By arresting a large group of them we get either people that should not even be out on the streets, or get the few that have connections to the ring leaders(Soros through the groups he funds[which could lead directly to him with a solid case so that assets can be seized]).
The last part is will, and to be frank not many have the will. We will say it all, but it will take something that pushes us all past a point where action instead of words are going to be done. I don't advocate violence, and rather that be the last resort. Yet, if it gets to the last resort then there is very little that will change without it. We need not hundreds, not thousands, but tens of thousands doing it at the same time. We gathered the evidence to a point, but we need a finger to the pulse to make it stick. I am guessing we are pretty close with how this all started so fast.
As for details, I would start with Antifa Middlemen that are making bail(Hollywood, Soros, etc.), and follow their history and who they are connected. once the high rankers are known then do arrests for the provocation of incitement, aiding and abiding in terrorist like actions, accessory to 2nd degree murder attempts, and committing conspiracy with foreign nationals where applied just to start. After that I have no clue, but that has to be a start.
Education: this problem started in 1921 with the creation of the CFR. Add in the Frankfurt School, Soviet influence and a few other things, then the creation of the DoE. Btw my Dad retired from being a HS teacher after the creation of the DoE because the government takeover fucked everything up so horribly. I know more about this than you might expect. It is absolutely connected to the Fed or rather, those few who profit obscenely from its perverse relationship to our US Treasury.

The reason the part about overpowering the rioters is not actually overpowering them. That was a one off scenario to several hundred that can happen. My main point was we need far larger groups then even they show in their strong holds.
I already know the riots were planned, and the fact that it is a staging point for those in Congress to try and pass laws, bills, or addends to current legislation.
Also, I use short term very differently than some. The way I use it was detailing a 20-40 year period or a single generation period or double generation period. Long term is 50-200 years. Not saying stuff will last that long, but that is how I term things when classifying societal behavior.
Governors are one thing, but I was, also, including those in State Senates and Houses. Those will be the harder ones since it is harder.
