As I've watched all the violence unfolding around our country, one thing really stuck out to me (even amidst all the chaos). Many states (guess which color: red or blue?) have decided to limit their citizens' right to defend themselves, their families, their homes, and their businesses.
While I'm normally more of states' rights kind of person, the laws have been perverted and twisted to weaken the individual powers and protections every person in our country should enjoy. This needs to stop.
No United States citizen should ever have to second guess themselves while under attack or choose between possibly going to jail if they defend themselves or relying on the 'good will' of their attackers. Ever. It should be our right to protect ourselves.
Nation wide concealed carry for all
Yes, I agree with that as well. Everyone, regardless of their state, should have unfettered rights to concealed carry. But I'm talking about even more than that.
I want to see specific amendment language that guarantees the right of citizens to protect themselves, their families & loved ones, their homes, their businesses, their properties. People should not have to worry about facing charges themselves after having to defend against an attack.
That language should be straightforward, short and to the point. No weasel-words, no extraneous clauses that weaken it or open it up to 'interpretation'. Clear and straightforward, every citizen of our country should be guaranteed the right of self-protection.
By the way, I know posting this here is preaching to the choir, but it's important enough that it needs saying outright, so there's no mistaking where we should be headed as a country.
