I love listening to The Beach Boys, but it also makes me sad because they're singing about an era of California that is long gone. What I would give see American pre-1960s. Seems like it's almost a storybook now.
I guess pre-1960s America would've been great in the right circles. Would of been cool to see Elvis single-handedly create the pop music industry. But a majority of hippies came from regular families, even many Christian families, torn apart by consecutive world wars and the rampant alcoholism and excessive partying the greatest generation used to do.
