This has been an idea I've been questioning lately... I don't know if it's a good idea or not. I don't have enough legal knowledge to come to a great conclusion on this.

I need Mark Levin to address this... He lays it out well.

Edit: I did some more soul searching on this. I am now off the fence. It would NOT be good to suspend the Writ of Habeas Corpus. Instead, I agree that local authorities should be detaining suspects and arresting them. They need body cameras on. They need to arrest them then figure out exactly who they are (these thugs are giving fake names and addresses and cops are letting them go without proving who they are).

I also believe the national guard needs to help maintain order. Local prisons would be overwhelmed with these thugs, and the national guard would be needed to help keep these people detained until they can go through all the checks.

Then, these thugs need to have a speedy trial. Any act of violence or destruction (not protection related) should be treated as a felony forever stained on that thugs record.

It's the system we have in place. It is good enough. We just need it to be enforced.

If the police can't maintain the peace declare martial law. The fact they can't even catch half of these bandits to start an investigation into who is calling the shots strongly supports the case.

Ok, this makes a little more sense to me. No reason to go as far as Lincoln. A civil war certainly is much more devastating than these riots.

Yeah, that would have sucked. Thanks for the perspective.

I do think that the ability to protest should be temporarily suspended though, just for a week or so. Then again, that's what curfews do...

Such strange times we live in...
