In Austin a few years ago, a cop shot an unarmed white man (that had comitted no crime) in the back as he was running away. Cop said he thought the guy was reaching for a gun (what they always say when they blast some unarmed person) and that was that. Story didn't even make the front page of the local paper let alone national news.
