Actually, tourniquets for snake bites are a bad idea. It concentrates in the limb and eats it much faster than it would circulating through the body. Seen this happen and the paramedic got sued.
Interesting, Australian health authorities still recommend a tourniquet (or at least a “pressure immobilisation bandage”) for snake bite, but maybe it depends on the type of snake.
You guys have got snakes that will kill you pretty fast. Rattlesnakes here in the US are deadly but it usually takes a while, so the tourniquet is seen as probably doing more harm than good. Pressure bandages lightly applied are ok though, which is weird since it’s basically a thicker tourniquet
