Thinking of getting the SMITH & WESSON, M&P15-22, SEMI-AUTOMATIC, AR, 22LR, 16.5"

Mostly for my wife and daughter to be able to handle. Is it worth it? I already have shotgun, several 9's, and a 357 on the way.

women can handle normal ARs no problem. the kick from .223/5.56 is a joke

Didn't want to get something they couldn't handle

an ar-22 (as everyone I know calls this gun) is a truly enjoyable thing. cheap to plink with, lots of options. do it.

get a red dot

The videos show that the 22lr ammo has some good penetration as well

They're fantastic! I have one and its what I always take to the range over my "actual" AR. But if the main reason you're looking at the 15-22 and not an actual M&P 15 is for the kick, just get the real deal. The kick from an .223 AR is not bad at all, my wife and daughter both handle it just fine.

I will say having an AR in 22LR does have the benefit of cheap ass ammo though.

It is worth every penny. I have one because it’s super cheap to shoot and fun and at the end of the day I also have it for my ten year old son to use for defense.

Of course I have many other firearms
