I graduated HS in 2007 and promised my mom I'd become an officer unlike my friends who just went in and planned on it. Obama won and I lost hope in America, living on a campus away from my family, at that moment I wondered how long before America was over. I would never fight for Obama

I'm 31 now working in the ivy league and working on a masters in compsci. Hate it all, programming is fun but it's more of a hobby. I'm encountering anti white racism constantly on zoom meetings. and for 7 years here. I've got the desire to serve again but I am afraid that the NG or military or police force would be filled with the same PC crap that I am trying to get away from.

My best friend is an 18D active duty and I'm too ashamed to ask him about NG SF or some kind of service that would prepare me to help out in America with these riots which may lead to unconventional war.

Any suggestions? I have metal in my thumb from an MMA fight and my vision is bad. I have an appointment to talk to a recruiter and also contacted WV 2/19th

This is the kind of suggestion I'm looking for, thank you.

I have long thought the same thing, my main goal of earning my masters is finally being finished programming. Every day I walk to work past the landscapers plowing, shoveling, digging, repairing brick, and wish I was outside doing that (grass is greener huh). My favorite job ever involved rucking 52 miles of shoreline and marking it up. Also issuing safety violations to lakefront owners and I got to carry bear mace.

I wonder if there are intel positions not behind a computer.

Doesnt hurt to try.

But it also doesnt help coming late to the game, so to speak.

I'm glad I joined right out of high school. I was at the tail end of Bush's presidency and served halfway through Obama's presidency.

I wouldnt take it back for anyone.

I've known people who were in their late 30's who joined and moved up fast compared to the younger troops we had. However, I knew a guy who was in his late 20's with a bachelors in electrical engineering that failed out because he couldnt meet the physical requirements to stay in. So anything is possible.

All i can say is try it.

Become the Self Sufficient Man (Gender Assumed, sue me) you owe yourself. I've been a IT jack of all trades for going on 25 years. I manage a multi-state VPN, Code, and still do Help Desk Support (probably still my favorite due to Human Interaction but I've known these people 15 plus years). I know the struggle you are enduring in our industry. You are not going to find what you are looking for in the armed forces. Where you are going to find your happiness is going back to where you started. I'm from the sticks, I raised wild animals and tamed a large lay of land. I used my talent to extract from society the resources I needed to return to muh roots. I currently have 4 ducks, 4 chickens, a pig and 2 acres. Whenever shit got me down I go hang w/ my crew. Who are better company than any of these animals you currently see going apeshit in "Civilized Society."

Whatever your place is I can't say, but I hope my example has given you some starting point on self-reflection.

Thanks brother I have actually contracted an engineering firm and have been planning an orchard/market farm with ducks for years now. Thats why I thought national guard would be nice, some service with time to be home. Of course I could not start likely start a business if I was NGSF they commit a lot of time

Based_Guac said it pretty well, with the weapon and all that. I believe every individual gets at least one God Given Talent, and its up to them to choose (Free Will and all that stuff if you believe) accept it and hone it in as a form of gratitude. Between all these forces working together the path ahead is forged by past choices, refined talent, and Providence. You are distraught because you think you are lost but once you settle the haze you're going to find it's right in front of you.

  • All those who wander are not lost.

I know it all sounds like some heeby jeeby bullshit but it's quite funny how it will all become true.

I appreciate it man! I moved to the city to do martial arts and dedicated my life for 8 years. Sacrificed my degree and worked in restaurants, got a windfall job at the ivy, and now getting my masters. It sucks! and I'm not fighting, and past the age of earning money fighting. I am injured but not too bad

You're name wouldn't happen to be Allen and you're from Louisiana by any chance?

Also, off note, just like any pro sport, that shit is very short lived and is going to have a toll on your body. You owe that shit NOTHING. There are other ways to push your physical capabilities without destroying it. LandScaping, I'm talking tree clearing and irrigation, not that pussy flower bed crap but don't dismiss it because watching the lady bend over to plant some flowers is always some good sight seeing. Is a way better activity where you actually get positive outputs from your investments. Were as you're current outlet is eating you up.
