10pm Wedsneday evening. Decent-ish neighborhood. All I'm hearing are gunshots, and not ONE report ANYWHERE. According to my local news everyone is oh-so "peaceful". Some cars honking and speeding through my street. Keeping non-essential lights off. Not fearful, but not stupid either.
One of my neighbors wears Blue, and I saw this person wander outside to assess and go back inside. It is no secret, but it's not public either.
Just read LA Times shitpiece about Garcetti cutting LAPD funding. Betting hard cash that LAPD enrollment is going to drop, and expecting resignations and maybe even strikes.
Currently mentally evaluating options for my Plissken-esque Escape From LA and employment elsewhere. Was intending to leave a few years from now anyway, but looks like my timeframe has changed.

Also LA based. I have multiple siblings in law enforcement and none of them will resign nor take a stand, their pay and benefits are just too good.

No worries, I will though I'm rather mad at their "well what can we do" attitudes I know they mean well. A UCLA campus officer straight apologized to me for lack of police response then said he's leaving California the day he retires.
We can only go so far as those that are willing to have our backs when it comes to our jobs. Sometimes all we are left with are to try to be examples of decency with our own conduct. Many are quick to demand we act to solve situations they refuse to handle or step into, even the phoneposting liberals that scream and demand that we rush into burning buildings without protection (metaphorically speaking here).
For your family in blue, if their employer and the citizenry are so quick to throw them to the wolves the second their feelings are hurt, I just can't blame them for their stance. I’m sure other people have way better info, but I’d have a week’s worth of clothing, toiletries, food, and water. Waterproof envelopes with important paperwork (ID, insurance, phone list, etc.). Medications and feminine/baby products as needed. I keep an EMT jump bag with items for basic first aid, plus Israeli bandages/QuickClot for gun range accidents. Extra guns and ammo if you have it, but hopefully won’t need it.
Appreciate the sentiment, but these colors don't run. Was eventually looking to relocate because I want a community worth contributing to. Will shelter in place, plenty of covid and earthquake prep still on hand.

Believe me, I know. My sons are in high school and college and many of their friends have been going down there to hang out, because it is about the only thing to do to socialize.
