A lot of people lately, from Tim Pool to Rush Limbaugh to Scott Adams, have talked about how we could be seeing the slow death of America's big urban centers. Between Coronavirus lockdowns, high rent prices, riots, and the ability to work from home a lot of urban dwellers could start moving to small towns and rural areas.
If I lived in NYC right now, I'd probably be thinking to myself "Why do I even live here? The rent prices are insane, I can't go out to restaurants or bars anymore because of the lockdowns, there's riots going on and I fear for my own safety. I don't even have to go to the office anymore because I've started working from home. Why shouldn't I move to the country?"
I don't want them to move out here and start fucking everything up.

They had one on the south side for a while which was supplemented by taxpayers. It was closed after a few years b/c it couldn't generate any money. There's actually quite a few Targets in Chicago which are slammed with people, I don't think they'll leave. They may leave the downtown area b/c even though the State Street location was busy, there's no way that space pays the rent. It's massive.
Walmart had already closed all it's downtown market stores in Chicago-proper about 2 years ago. They have some stores on the outskirts but they're absolutely trashed and are pretty freaky to walk through. If you go into a walmart on the South Side people can't even work self check-out. It's fuckin wild how far removed they are from basic human brainwaves.
