I say go for it but yeah there is some risk there. I've grown up in the PNW coming up on 50 years and learned some local history. I wonder how many people are aware that it was Socialists and Anarchists that, after the railroads were built and job competition with the Chinese got more serious, burned the Chinese our of Seattle and put them on boats to San Francisco. Socialists were the first racially motivated thugs in the PNW and they are still here and their hatred has simply shifted goal posts. They've been on the wrong side of our history from the beginning. Now of course white supremacist groups have been huge out here too (not as much in the last decade or two) but isn't it interesting that one is still the bad guy and the other is now a freedom fighter.

If you are from here you know this is geologically and naturalistically a paradise. Nothing attracts a serpent like paradise.

Note Wikipedia Section 6 for a good synopsis. The relevant parts come from Murray Morgan and I'd challenge a lefty to say whether he was a lefty or conservative. He seems to me to have been a classic liberal with a real passion and desire to understand and teach. If there is bias there or not I leave it for you to decipher.
