I still believe most of my former comrades still support POTUS and will support legal measures taken to restore law and order from the certain cities that have sectarian violence and looting springing up; but posse commitatus violations should be resisted if ordered. God I hope the people around him aren't dumb enough to try to talk him into doing something so foolish. Unless outright sectarian conflict and insurgency breaks out, there is NEVER a reason to bring our own active duty military onto our soil to perform civil actions. Yes it sucks that Mattis said what he did when he did, but trust me when I say he holds a massive amount of respect amongst most of the armed forces and they will be watching much more closely to see if orders exceed constitutional bounds now.
And I don't want that to sound like concern trolling. But we need to temper how we look at things and understand this is a perception issue because the MSM isn't letting his message of reconciliation get out vice some sort of insurrection by the military senior leaders. POTUS wants this to end and people to reconcile, and to put a hard stop to the looting and violence, not to use the military to stop the protests in general. The MSM wants people and the military to think he is wanting to use them to suppress the assemble rights of normal people in order to spark discord. Fight that message, not the militaries natural and healthy resistance to it.

Bush lost the election because he was a terrible candidate. He only won because he rode the positive wave of Reagan where anyone would have won that had an R by their name. He was not well liked though. The Democrats Ross Perot'd the ballot to split the vote as well to ensure a Democrat win. They even brought out the race riots conveniently in an election year to ensure unrest. The playbook of the Democrats has not changed much over the years.
