They did, and he flat out lied about it. That is, if Andy McCabe is to be believed anyway. IIRC then the Rat said he was joking like the host suggested here at the end.
Plausible, for that situation to happen? Sure, in the right context, that’s a good joke.
But you have to keep in mind, this is the guy who is conspiring with Mueller, literally the day after Trump fired Comey, on Rosensteins own advice. He then takes Mueller to the WH under the pretense of interviewing for the FBI job the day before appointing him special council?
This is the guy who is claiming it was a joke.
I’m not saying McCabe isn’t a fucking liar, because he is. But that doesn’t change the fact that its just as likely if not more likely that Rosenstein was brainstorming legitimate schemes to try and get Trump.
Oh, I know. I'm not giving him the benefit of the doubt as to his allegiance in all of this. But this point may not be the best way to attack. As you said, McCabe is a dirty liar and could have been purposefully taking it out of context. There's no deniability when you walk into the oval office with a wire on, so I think Roddy Boy would have been smart enough not to go that way.
Roddy Boy comes off as thinking he's smart enough to get away with anything against anyone. So many times a good question would be asked and he'd get this smile on his face like "well Senator, let me show you how much smarter I am than you by giving you a bullshit answer"
That hearing was a huge disappointment. I think every Republican thanked Rosenstein for his "service," and they all kept repeating the false narrative that "Russia interfered in the election." None of them seemed to know that story fell apart when Shawn Henry testified that Crowdstrike was unable to prove Russian exfiltation of the DNC emails. His name was Seth Rich.
They did "interfere" it was just non-effective. They always interfere though. They riled up black lives matter, they riled up the counter to BLM. And so on. It just wasn't effective.
Saying Russia interfered, on anything, is entirely non-controversial. It is also a constant so moot to even mention.
The use of the term "Russian interference" is now synonymous with "Russia hacked the DNC and gave Trump the presidency." There is no proof that Russia, the Russian government, really did anything here. The cases against the indicted Russians have been dropped. No Republican should ever utter those words. Lindsey Graham went so far as to say "Russia hacked the DNC emails" at this week's hearing. He appears to either be an idiot or a saboteur. It's impossible not to know what happened here.
I get that, and it is unfortunate. But denying they made attempts is not accurate either. I absolutely understand nuance is often counterproductive in politics, but in reality, it is necessary and therefore important.
FYI - you can use the Rachael Madcow law to avoid using whatever you say on TV. The defense? Anything I say on tv should not be taken seriously because tv is a form of entertainment and not actually news.
Just so you know, this tactic is tried and true and will be used in case law.
The left has really mastered the redefining of words for their allies. Peter "we'll stop him" Strzok changed the language of "grossly negligent" for Hillary Clinton to "extremely careless". It means the exact same thing in the english language, but Comey admitted it was to deviate it away from the language of the statute (that she clearly violated).
Last night KT McFarland was commenting on the Rosenstein McCabe fight and she is predicting some leaks from the Mueller team this weekend pointing fingers.
Any time the subject at hand drifts to an area that makes Dems uncomfortable, this word and the phrase "republican talking points" are whipped out in order to try and maintain focus on the most important narrative of Orange Man Bad.
Really surprised and somewhat encouraged by the fact that the interviewer pushed him on it, if only for that moment.
Mccabe looking haggard as fuck. Good. Hope the stress of being a treasonous snake is keeping you up at night and wearing holes in the lining of your stomach.
FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT
Jerry! Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!
Oh man! That takes me back!! Alright let’s see the test results, Rod and Andy it turns out Trump is your daddy!!!

Oh, I thought dookiebot's comment was a reference to this. Still works though!
to the death
No! To the pain!
Would have been nice if someone asked the Rat about that the other day huh?
They did, and he flat out lied about it. That is, if Andy McCabe is to be believed anyway. IIRC then the Rat said he was joking like the host suggested here at the end.
I could actually see that, honestly. "What do you want me to do, wear a fucking wire while I speak with the President?" It's plausible.
Plausible, for that situation to happen? Sure, in the right context, that’s a good joke.

I think they meant more of the sense of it was tongue-in-cheek rather than a haha funny joke
I assume there is a reasonable explanation where they are, in fact, both lying.
I think that’s fair.
With Communists, there is always plausible deniability argument to fall back on. The "Press" always push this narrative along once it pops up.
HRC has used this tactic for decades (and will use it again come Sept 9th); plausible deniability has not failed her yet.
The only way to get these fucks is to literally catch them red-handed, with audio and video, else the "Press" will fall in line, as usual.
With overwhelming damning evidence, the public is most likely to agree with convictions of the highest offices.
Preaching to the choir...just needed a little rant.
Release Anthony's Weiner laptop.
bag of snakes....
plausible deniability argument
Did they? Completely missed it then.
It's like that line in the Dire Straits song: "Two men say they're Jesus, one of them must be wrong."

¿Por qué no los dos?
Graham's an idiot saboteur...
Swamp protects swamp. Primary them all.

Exactly what is it that you think the Russian government did to interfere in the election?
A random trolling group buying $5k ad spots to run memes is hardly "election interference" as people understand that term, though.
He was by that dunce from Hawaii and he denied it. Not sure if anyone else did.
.... and so I'm answering those questions truthfully...."
Well hell, this time he must be telling the truth because he said so.
Antifa is anti fascist cuz they say so, so I guess you're right.
Love it when Today Show asks a harder question than Lindsey Graham & Senate Judiciary.
Pathetic.
At least give credit to Cruz and Hawley, they both laid into Rosenstein.
Very true!!
Mutiny and Treason. Durham had better fry these fuckers.
I fear you're correct...

How'd that work for my boy Alex Jones? Seriously, I vaguely remember them not accepting that argument, but I can't remember for sure.
"No it wasn't a joke."
Fucking unbelievable. They should all be rotting in prison.
"Lacked candor" is the polite way beauracracy calls someone a liar.

"Control the language, control everything."
Last night KT McFarland was commenting on the Rosenstein McCabe fight and she is predicting some leaks from the Mueller team this weekend pointing fingers.
This may get good.
Eating Themselves. Get FUCKED deepstate assholes.
McCabe lies like a sociopath, naturally and automatically. Rosenstein lies like a lawyer with weasel words.
Someone is lying...
Like cockroaches when the light is flipped on.
"Distraction" ...pathetic...

Let's get some pop-corn this ought to be a good one.
That man wS so fucking nervous while discussing this. He was grinding his hands together like a man who knows he is fucked.
Someone was wearing a wire, Rosenstein in that meeting.
I do not trust a single word this man says.
"The truth is a distraction to the point I want to make."
How about getting McCabe and Rosenstein in a room with wires?
Lie-detector wires. Wire 'em both up.
"no, it wasn't a joke"
We know Andy. It was sedition and you, rod, and everyone else involved will pay what you owe for that.
Forget the wire.
We're going to need an extra allocation in the 2021 federal budget for rope.
Lots and lots of rope.
Mccabe looking haggard as fuck. Good. Hope the stress of being a treasonous snake is keeping you up at night and wearing holes in the lining of your stomach.
I winder who flipped first. Or are they trying to get the deal to filp..I recall Trump saying one time No deals.
Serial liar, can't be used as evidence in court. Don't get your hopes up
"it wasnt a joke"
Who is fucking with this site? I keep getting error messages and takes forever to log in.
My money on the scrawny one.
