It's not offensive when it's bringing in all that hip hop $$$ from suburban kids. Or when some academic fraud like Cornel West decides to tell them they "own" the word, so the elite can use it as an income source or PC weapon depending on the day of the week.
Ive been thinking this for awhile, but if you're called the n word repeatedly from birth to present by your friendly uncles, your moms friends, your role models, what do you think you'll be in the back of your head?
I think it's fair to say that we've all been through some shit in life, isn't it? But hey, if your skin is white, none of that matters, no matter how bad it was because "white privilege." However, there is never a shortage of excuses for those who need to be pandered to. We all have our adversities in life, but skin color is not a factor of success in America, there are endless examples of that.
True, but even still people can excuse it: "he's booksmart, she's prettier," etc. Staying in misery is easier than reaching for something new, and when theres an excuse so close, why try when barely getting by is glorified? Theres a Ben Franklin quote about it too, but ive been up 24 hrs, so my minds kinda dead right now.
The reality is we don’t have a white supremacist problem in this country, we have a serious black inferiority complex problem. It’s so fucking obvious. Anyone who doesn’t see this is a fucking idiot.
It deflects from the actual racist discussion and politics. Blacks are most concerned about police brutality because blacks must be criminals with a lot of interactions with police. It magically turns some racist bullshit into being “woke”.
The vast majority of instances in which I hear it used are on multi-platinum selling records, or in packed auditoriums at stand-up comic performances. So it really can't be the word itself that is so terrible.
To me at least, that exposes some hypocrisy (not directing this at you) of many who reeeeee at anyone who says it while not possessing the requisite color of skin to speak that word freely.
I think this phenomenon may have been the origin of, or at the very least contributed to the now wide-spread mentality that blacks cannot be racist no matter what they do or say, and that only whites are capable of such evil.
Yeah maybe but so is cracker or honky or gringo. To be honest I don't think I've heard the n-word in public in over 20 years. Thing is people just like to get offended. I've seen people take offense at 'negro' and 'black' as well. i'm not interested in calling someone who's never been to Africa and African American. That's total nonsense unless they are willing to take on the low IQ and backward culture that implies.
I couldn’t disagree more. I live in New Orleans and context and intent matter. I be heard it used way more over decades as a term of endearment on the street and in music than anything else. It’s. It even close. With that said, I don’t care how hateful someone thinks a word is, that’s their fucking mental illness and insecurity showing if they let a word get an emotional and many times violent reaction out of them. The new thing I’ve been warning people about for years is the phenomenon of crying nigger(wolf) on white people when blacks get caught violently attacking huh whyte tee. Apparently if a white person calls someone a nigger(even if they didn’t) that’s a get out of jail free card. It doesn’t surprise me though, because as we all know, crime is the new black entitlement.
Is it really the word itself that is offensive though? Or, is it the shade of the speakers skin which determines whether or not outrage is called for?

That's exactly what I'm getting at, my fellow pede.
It's a word so vile, so offensive, so shocking to the conscience, that you'll only hear it 500 times an hour on any Black hip-hop / rap radio station.

"Life is pain. Anyone who says otherwise is selling something."
In this case, leftists claim white people are inherently privileged (i.e. no pain) to sell the hatred of whites.
