Do the people there just not know, like do they suppress this info or they simply don’t care? I don’t understand this, I’d rather have someone convicted of something violent then for something like embezzlement for my mayor although obviously no crimes would be best but I guess that’s asking to much if you insist on a democrat
They DGAF. The city is a depressing hole where even the "safe" touristy areas like the Harbor and the stadiums border war zones, and occasionally become war zones themselves. There's a ShotSpotter tower on every corner and entire neighborhoods that are bombed out shells of crumbling empty houses. Garbage everywhere and even the streets are in terrible condition. They even ripped out McKeldin Fountain a few years ago, which was a huge block-sized park/fountain complex in the Harbor at the southern entrance to Downtown, because the city had allowed it to degenerate into a tri-purpose public bath/shower, swimming pool, and toilet.
Population numbers have collapsed. It's on and off the STD capital of the country. 35 years ago the city slogan was "The City that Reads" but everyone called it "The City that Bleeds". It's something like Top 3 in per capita for murder. They couldn't afford the subway they started to build after completing only a single line, and in the 90's added an above ground Light Rail system to make up for it. The suburbs with LR stops saw a massive spike in crime so bad that the biggest radio morning show jock at the time (Kirk McEwan, brother of Mark) referred to it as the "Loot Rail".

Considering the demographics of Baltimore, they don't care. If anything, they view her conviction as street cred that makes her worthy of their vote.
