Some peaceful protester will steal an AR out of a police car and use it to go on a killing spree of cops. Then the riots will suddenly disappear as the media tells us how we need to ban "assault rifles" because cops are heroes and don't deserve to die. We'll start hearing that cops shouldn't have ARs either because then they'll get stolen from their squad cars, and everyone will nod their heads and forget exactly what led to that.
Even my parents are considering a gun now, despite my mom being radically against owning one the entire time I was growing up. She's not against 2a, just wasn't comfortable having a gun around.
