I guess the 7.62 and .308 are in the same bed. I support your .40, and always liked a .45 as well. In addition to beef's plan, of course, with a side of .243 and 30-06 thrown in.
My wife prefers a suppressed .22 pistol. I try not to piss her off before bed...
I guess my rifle ammo pick is for availability. You are far more likely to find a group with 5.56 and 7.62 if the boog really does light off over the other calibers. I'm probably in a bit of a pickle with the .40 but meh its a last ditch personal defense weapon so no real need for crates of it lying around. I prefer it for the capacity of a 9mm but the stopping power a .45 along with the better ballistics.
Capacity, ballistics and stopping power. My sr40 can pack in 15 rounds in a standard mag and 25 in the extended. The typical .45 is an 8 round mag. So more capacity and with similar man killer performance and able to hit accurately and put a target down at a greater range. It's what hard core law agencies switched to as 9mm simply wasn't doing the job vs amped up criminals and especially cartel. You get hit center mass with a .40 you are not getting back up unless you have armor.
This is my carry ammo. Good for black bears so dropping a charging drugged out thug would be easy work.
I used to have 2 .40's and they are alright. A shield and a beretta 96. But yeah I feel you on the ammo capacity. That's why next time I buy a pistol I will prob get a 9mm, holds lots more rounds.
laughs in .223, .308, .357, 9mm
Chuckles in 12 gauge
Guess I'm the odd man out. Went .40 sw and 7.62 for the better man killer aspects. If I'm going to shoot I want the first shot to do the trick.
Just clicked back over from shopping for a new .762 "collusion stick"

If you are gonna do .40 why not just go for .45

You forgot .45. The round that Made America Great.
Don't have one yet... Saving up for a custom Trump 1911. Those are soooo sweet
