Capacity, ballistics and stopping power. My sr40 can pack in 15 rounds in a standard mag and 25 in the extended. The typical .45 is an 8 round mag. So more capacity and with similar man killer performance and able to hit accurately and put a target down at a greater range. It's what hard core law agencies switched to as 9mm simply wasn't doing the job vs amped up criminals and especially cartel. You get hit center mass with a .40 you are not getting back up unless you have armor.

This is my carry ammo. Good for black bears so dropping a charging drugged out thug would be easy work.

Yeah but thats a fat grip gun with the double wide mags. Too unwieldy for me. Good gun though if your hand fits it.

I used to have 2 .40's and they are alright. A shield and a beretta 96. But yeah I feel you on the ammo capacity. That's why next time I buy a pistol I will prob get a 9mm, holds lots more rounds.

True 9mm is really all you practically need for self defense since very few people will get back up after unloading a few shots center mass. Just min-maxing it for my tastes. I live out in the sticks so animals are my greatest threat and we have feral invasive pigs which have regressed almost back to boars.

Boars are scary, I moved to florida and went camping and could hear boars galloping around all night long

I guess they didn't mess with me but still scary

They are hunted enough to be wary of humans but an angry boar or protective sow can run you down and gut you with a quickness. Nasty critters for sure.
