I lost complete respect for Canada when I found out they had a "strategic maple syrup reserve." As if it were crude oil for the military. I wish I was kidding.

Yes, I’ve seen a couple documentaries about this. It is a cabal, similar time OPEC to control pricing on maple syrup of all things hahaha. I love maple syrup more than most people and how it’s produced, idk if it’ll ever happen, but I’ve set a goal to one day have a little cabin somewhere in Vermont, “like most Vermonters” according to Bernie, and farm Maple syrup. It seems like a rewarding retirement for me personally. I just absolutely love the stuff, but when you start looking into the real stuff, you think, $15 a bottle for 8 oz is a little excessive, the. You find out it’s basically like the mafia in a small way. If I get my little farm, I’d change that, make a decent profit but under cut a lot of competitors. But then angry maple farmers might roll up axes in hand and chop down my trees 🤷‍♀️

It's fascinating how many things are mobbed up in Canada. I like how their milk comes in bags too. LOL

Dairy might as well be mobbed up too: "supply management" is practically a Canadian political sacred cow.

I'm pretty sure it is still or at least was back in the day. I know there are super tight market and production controls as you said.

You've never had yourself a nice cold bag of milk?

It's not ridiculous thou :( Only downside is if a bag gets a puncture in it but you check by holding it by the tag and rubbing the bottom corners to see if there's a leak.

Not all milk in Canada but I think it's like 70% comes in plastic bags. It looks completely absurd and you have to put it in a pitcher and snip the corner to pour it out. It's completely unpractical way to sell, ship, contain, store... every thing you could think of related to retail enjoyment of milk.... putting it in a plastic bag that you are designed to puncture is possibly the worst idea.

Ever been to Canada? Those MFers should be praying for climate change!

Only thing we (The sane Canadians) pray for is Turdeau gone and locked away for good. Summer and Winter are easily bypassed with AC and Heaters.

I would think an all expenses paid one way trip to his dad's hometown of Havana ought to do the trick.

That's what I keep telling everyone.

"Oh no, 90% of our inhospitable land will be livable."

I don't know the specifics of how mobbed up it is but I do know that they have a significant strategic maple syrup reserve at the federal level in Quebec. A literal and functional cartel that controls the flow of the sweet stuff if you will north of the border.

Yes, completely and totally not a joke. But yes at the same time Canada is kind of a joke in terms of countries one should take seriously if they "stand up" to you and you are the United States.
