If I remember correctly you can transport restricted firearms in Canada by any means as long as it is unloaded, rendered inoperable by a trigger mechanism and locked in a rigid case. Unless the RCMP would like to show me a law that says the opposite?
You are right, but the thing is that you are only allowed to use a restricted firearm on a range, and transport it to and from your home to a range. The RCMP can do pretty much what they want. Remember that guy in Winnipeg that was accused of being a white supremacist? He committed no crime. But they Swatted his house at 4 A.M. Found nothing, did not charge him with anything, but still took his guns.
