With police officers being targeted and killed during these riots, i dont blame them for being on edge.
Most of the stories I see where these people are supposedly innocent rarely have any way to verify that they are innocent. These rioters think they are justified, of course they think they're innocent.
(other account, as I was permabanned for asking this question...)
That makes sense. Reddit doesn't show those police officers actually being targeted and killed, they only show the point of view of the protesters, but browsing this sub I saw that police are being targeted as well.
Reddit focuses on such a small part of these riots.
These rioters are also killing people of all colors and destroying black businesses like crazy. Now reddit will say these werent protesters doing this, but BLM isn't even denouncing this senseless violence. So what would lead anyone else to believe its not the protesters doing this?
Yeah that's certainly true. They should have come forward and denounced the violence, if they had any sense. I don't believe it's not the protesters doing the rioting, but it's just a subset of the protesters. Just like probably only 1% of the cops is bad, but that's still a lot of cops so a lot of video footage, if only 1% of the protesters is bad you've got a shit ton of rioters who are going to destroy entire cities.
There was one shown all over the place Friday of a guy walking backwards when a cop knocks him down. The part of the interaction not shown all over the place was the guy reaching for the cop's belt.
The other video was of a woman getting arrested while other people shrieked. Other than the shrieking, nothing happens.
I think twitter is having some trouble. I couldn't load it a couple minutes ago, but now I can. And for as far as I can see, the man isn't reaching for the cop's belt, he's got a helmet in one hand and what I think is a phone in the other.
Well, the arrest isn't the strange part. The strange part is that it's cops in an unmarked minivan arresting a woman while noone has any idea what's going on, the cops refusing to say where they are taking her, and the cops saying "if you follow us, you will get shot". I can imagine the woman in that situation was fearing for her life as it might as well have been a kidnapping instead of an arrest, looking at how the police acted in that situation.
The fact that people have no idea what's going on doesn't mean anything. Again, there's no sign of what happened before that video.
The other one on twitter there's more to the video than just that part. I saw the entire video elsewhere. The guy reaches for the cop's belt just before the widely posted video starts.
For every instance of what the press calls "police brutality", there are thousands of instances of anti-white racists rampaging through every major and mid-sized city in America. They want nothing less than to destroy both the physical and cultural edifices that have been established by Western Civilization.
Yeah that's true, Antifa and the violent arm of the BLM protests should get arrested. Antifa is actually in my country as well, and they beat some guy over here for simply standing in a square where they were protesting and not agreeing with them. Fucking assholes.
Why is it so wrong that I'm trying to see both sides as an outsider? I only see the media in my country, which are biased, and Reddit, which is also biased. I want to get the whole picture. I don't understand that I was permabanned for this.
You just answered your own question. You are watching fake news. You are watching liberal drivel. Trump bad, Trump Hitler. Blah blah blah. You probably still believe Trump colluded with Russia. If you are from UK be sure to tell your intelligence services thanks for helping setup a coup attempt against the guy we all chose and voted for legally. While your at it, tell that very same intel community to suck my nuts. I do not care if we have some special relationship with your country anymore. I will be the first one protesting any intervention via military when the rape gangs take over your country. Londonstan has a nice ring to it.
And that's precisely the reason why I'd like an open conversation with people from the other point of view: precisely because I'm only seeing liberal drivel in my country. I like to get both sides, and then form an educated opinion, instead of only seeing one side and basing everything on that.
I'm not British, I'm Dutch. But I'll be sure to relay your message the next time I'm going to hang out with the UK intelligence services.
Well, if you genuinely want to see this side, hang out and see what our side is all about. I will start by saying we are not white supremacists and racism of any kind is nipped in the bud when it happens (which most of the time it is shills). We are not afraid to talk about subjects that others consider controversial here though. We believe in free speech and free expression. Thought control is the real fascism.
I've been lurking here quite a while, so yeah I have been hanging out here. I know you're not white supremacists and racists, and I never accused you of that.
Yeah the promotion of free speech and free expression here was the reason I figured I'd make this post. Got banned for it though. Guess the mod just thought I came here to accuse you of random shit.
Never said you did, but a lot of people do. In fact, the current narrative is that systemic racism is everywhere in the United States which is bullshit. What foreigners need to realize is that the news wants us to be tarnished with the supremacist label because they can't win a debate with facts. They use lies and manipulate information to smear, besmirch and tarnish our reputations. I have been called so many names just because of my political views that it is just par for the course. I will never surrender to mob rule and intimidation based upon lies. Have a good one. I am gonna punch out of work and enjoy my one day off a week and get away from politics.
Police in the US have every right to enforce the law.
Twice as many unarmed white people than unarmed black people have been killed by cops in 2019, 20 compared to 10, whether within or outside the scope of the law.
Look at all the videos here of rioters attacking police.
Police in the US put their lives on the line everyday for only OK pay.
Rioters are burning buildings and ruining good people's lives, their investment in their community. Police and citizens both should be stopping these ingrates.
Since you used 'favoured' British spelling I would hazard a guess you're not American.
If you're in the UK you have MUCH bigger, and MASSIVE problem with your muslim rape gangs of underage girls that your government refuses to address.
My opinion is you should start there and worry about US politics afterwards.
I'm not British either. I'm Dutch. And yeah we definitely have our problems here, the BLM and Antifa protests are actually going on here as well, on a much, much smaller scale though. A man who was simply standing near some of those Antifa cunts and said he didn't agree with them was beaten and kicked to the head.
Anyway, it's not so much a question of me "worrying" about US politics. More so that I simply want to get both points of view instead of only seeing news through a biased lens.
Or not worry about it all. I could not care less about other countries. There is no we are the the world. Fuck globalism and the idea that we all have to get along. If that was the case, politicians would focus on the real problems in this country. Maybe start by looking at the thousands of black on black shootings that occur every year. Crickets on that though. Gotta blame systemic racism when it is complete and utter horseshit.
The police are holding back way to much and are now in much greater danger than they should be. These agitators need a much stronger hand than they are getting; which is why they keep doing it.
I would also like to see some of our really cool area denial devices used more.
The demonstrations that are actually peaceful and lawful do not have the situations you cite occurring.
We have experience with this type of news clip, which is why you saw "Fake News," here.
We know that starting up the clip after the provocation gives a false impression. It's like that time that Trump was in Japan and dumped all the fish food in the koi pond. Later, it turned out that he had followed the Japanese Prime minister's example: dish out a few dabs first, then dump. We see it over and over.
I have to point out that the clips you're seeing likely suffer from a selection bias. Only the most provocative clips go viral, leaving the overwhelming number of average, boring protests behind. 60 seconds of people meandering down a road chanting with signs doesn't get as much attention as violent madness.
As for instances of police using physical force to expel demonstrators, I try my best to reserve judgement on a case-by-case basis. While it may look like an atrocity or an abuse of power, 90 seconds of video is always surrounded by the context of a situation. Was the video taken from a situation in which officers had issued multiple orders to disperse? Is there a standing order against demonstrations in the area in which the video is taken? What sort of stress had the police department in question had to deal with during this last week?
There's a multitude of questions and details that change the perception of a given snippet of video. If an officer whips out his baton unprovoked, in an area that's seen no commotion, without orders in place, and without giving commands to disperse, that's one thing. But when you're talking about an area that's been rocked by arson and bloodshed with people out after a lawful curfew's been enacted, and the officers spent 15 minutes telling people to disperse over a bullhorn before someone pressed 'record' on their phone, that's an entirely different question.
It's rare that we know the actual details of a given situation. I try hard to reserve final judgment until I have a solid understanding of what's actually happening.

Well this kind of shit.. https://twitter.com/Phil_Lewis_/status/1268715306261909507. Or this: https://streamable.com/14ig2p. If people riot, then I agree they should be severely punished. But these people, especially the elderly man, just seem harmless..
The one on twitter doesn't load. I can't see it.

Wow yeah that does put it into perspective!
Not Pro Trump, not American. Conversation over. Have a nice day.

You shouldn't have been banned. You're open to listening, which is more than I can say for a lot of people.
Thanks! I try to be.

I understand that it's a tough position to be in, being constantly attacked and derided for your political views.
Enjoy your day off ;).
Police are being to soft on rioters.

1. If you are not actually witnessing then you arent getting the whole picture.
2. If you are pulled over by police put your fucking hands at 10 and 2 and follow intructions.
3. If you feel you were wronged, get a badge number and file a report, fight in court or sue.
4. What you absofuckinglutely dont do is resist arrest.
