This is probably an unpopular opinion, but public sector employees shouldn't even be allowed to unionize. In particular, police unions protect bad officers, get guilty verdicts overturned and fired incompetent officers re-instated (sometimes with retroactive pay). Look at how well teacher's unions work out for us? I really feel for this generation of students with teachers that can't be held accountable... same goes for police. In the case of the police, their unions have coerced AG's nationwide to grant them their own bill of rights (LEOBR), which creates a truly "privileged" citizen with extra protections not available to the lower class of people.

I’ve seen a lot of progressives claim that the last time cops in some city (NY?) went on strike or otherwise were inactive, that crime went down. So some misinformed people might think they’re actually doing good. I have yet to see the actual fact/report that proves this. Personally, i’d Say I’d like to see them try that experiment again in LA or something but I’m afraid the repercussions of death and injury and crime would be so bad I can’t in good conscience suggest it as a viable study.

You could apply the same argument to virtually any boycott/union strike, they want them out of there so they can pay them less. The thing is they don't have 10000 officers simply waiting for a call. It absolutely won't work if it's a half-baked plan with only the veterans or higher ups alone. How effective it will be is directly related to public reception. This would undoubtedly be a tipping point in the passive population who simply hopes this all goes away on it's own. So far we haven't seen even one governor or mayor impeached or recalled, that's where we start a call for action. If getting boo'ed in public is what they're most afraid of these politicians are in for a rude awakening.
Californians have collected signatures to recall Newsom more than twice already and the second he's hit with any real pressure he caves in so it goes away. People don't seem to realize he's a wimp as most liberal politicians are. The people have a right to recall their elected officials they just play it so it never reaches the removal stage. I do agree that Garcetti is a completely different scenario because he's Mr popular. It would be interesting to see if the community chooses someone they like over their own communities. He can be someone who influences them for or against LAPD, that would be something to look out for.

Los Angeles just passed a "Linkage Fee" where a developer has to pay an extra $8-$15 per square foot (depending on the area) fee on their permits if they add or construct new over 1200 sqft. This money will go against homelessness.
I had a customer who was building a new 4000 sqft house in a lot that was never developed. She had to pay an extra $60k for permits. $60,000!!! That's unfair if you ask me.

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but public sector employees shouldn't even be allowed to unionize. In particular, police unions protect bad officers, get guilty verdicts overturned and fired incompetent officers re-instated (sometimes with retroactive pay). Look at how well teacher's unions work out for us? I really feel for this generation of students with teachers that can't be held accountable... same goes for police. In the case of the police, their unions have coerced AG's nationwide to grant them their own bill of rights (LEOBR), which creates a truly "privileged" citizen with extra protections not available to the lower class of people.
The founding fathers of this great country never intended for the people to be less than the gov't, in fact, they intended it to be the other way around.
