Dam, I joined dollar shave club to get away from cucked Gillette. Does anyone have a recommendation so that I can ditch dollar shave?

Barbasol

47
MachinistBob 47 points ago +47 / -0

Did this a year ago. Never looked back.

35
Trisolaran 35 points ago +35 / -0

Dollar Shave Club has been lefty for years. Anybody who switched to them from Gillette simply didn't do their research.

The best way to go IMO is Barbasol shaving cream and double-edged razors. Way cheaper and there's no way they'll donate millions to lefty causes.

7
Jackhererer 7 points ago +7 / -0

Buddy of mine works in barbasol factory. He told me after the Gillett ad they were busier then shit. They all laughed about it too. That was just 1 factory location.

5
vote_for_MAGA_2020 5 points ago +5 / -0

Agreed. I was optimistic when I first started seeing conservative youtube channels advertising DSC. my first visit to their website absolutely disgusted me. I never bought from them. Blatantly obvious lefties.

4
StaryHickory 4 points ago +4 / -0

why?

Are they like non political who owns them?

1
Trisolaran 1 point ago +1 / -0

Barbasol is owned by a small company that pretty much only owns Barbasol. To my knowledge they are non-political - their last tweet is about respecting heroes on Memorial Day.

Dollar Shave Club is owned by Unilever, a leviathan megacorporation that owns dozens of other major brands including Ben & Jerry's, which is infamous for their "Resist" brand of ice cream.

I don't care what shaving cream you use though (as long as you're not buying it from a lefty company). I just know that Barbasol is good and non-political. There are many options for shaving creams and shaving soaps other than it.

25
NotDoneWinning 25 points ago +25 / -0

Seconded. I joined after gillette got cucked.

39
Shakakka99 39 points ago +39 / -0

Thirded. Started using Barbasol the day after that Gillette commercial. Never liked DSC, their website is wonky and I don't need "asswipes".

31
Trumptastic88 31 points ago +31 / -0

Buy a double edge safety razor and shave soap. Itll save you thousands of dollars and give you a better shave.

21
BattleToad8999 21 points ago +21 / -0

On saving money ... I have a 23 year old pair of clippers... I "shave" down to a 5 o clock shadow. repeat every couple months. I'm so fucking lazy and uncouth it's insane lol but somehow I get away with it. I'm never, ever clean shaven.

7
Konsaki 7 points ago +7 / -0

I do the same thing once a week, though that's cause I get shaving infections if I use razors.

3
mintscape 3 points ago +3 / -0

Same exactly.

2

1
China_dindu_nuffin 1 point ago +1 / -0

I cancelled too! Barbasol has always been dear to me anyways. I told DSC I was tired of white leftists starting race wars in order to get career politicians elected...a little fearful since they have my account info. But that’s a lawsuit waitin to happen no?

5
vote_for_MAGA_2020 5 points ago +5 / -0

How confident are you that barbasol isn’t SJW? Pretty much every single major company is.

I’m asking for reals. I had bought a BUNCH of gillete razors just before their shit commercial. I’m not just throwing them away, but I’ll need a new razor soon.

9

They're an american & christian company, basically the Chickfila of shaving products

Grow a beard, it's free.

Or look into a double edged safety razor, you can buy blades from any number of companies, including ones from Japan or Europe.

You won't be fucked by the Injet Printer model of "Here's the handle for free, let me sell you the blades for 600% markup!"

25
Afeazo 25 points ago +25 / -0

This is the way I tell everyone to shave when the subject comes up and this is the way I will teach my kids to shave. The handle for the blade is $20, but you can buy a 100 pack of blades for like $10. It absolutely blows me away people spend upwards of $30 a month shaving, even using the same razor blade for many shave sessions, when I use a fresh blade each shave because they are so cheap. I never had a smoother and cleaner face, and I never spent less money on shaving.

I would never go back to those Gillette or whatever other brand makes those plastic razor blades. They are expensive and they suck. Learn to use a safety razor, and never look back. There’s a reason your great grandfather, grandfather, and father all used these blades their whole lives. $20 may seem expensive up front, but you will use it until the day you die.

9
Trumptastic88 9 points ago +9 / -0

100%. It truly is the best way to shave and also happens to be exponentially more economical as well

10
Afeazo 10 points ago +10 / -0

I like to use the analogy it’s just like comparing an inkjet printer vs a laser printer. The inkjet is cheap but you will constantly be raped by ink prices. The laser one is more expensive up front but much, much cheaper per page printed.

Of course not many people print stuff so they have no need for an expensive printer and just get the inkjet and use it a few times a year, but with a razer it’s different because nearly everyone out there shaves multiple times a week, both men and women, so it makes sense to invest in something you literally use all the time for decades.

4
randomnancy 4 points ago +4 / -0

Until the "replace drum" message comes up and it's cheaper to buy a new printer.

3
deleted 3 points ago +3 / -0
2
ChrisTheSoberITGuy 2 points ago +2 / -0

I just get a bag of disposable razors including the handles for like $12, one of them will last months if you clean it and don't let it rust.

Did I miss a memo where I should be tossing them after one use or something? How do people spend so much on shaving?

This is long before I started growing my beard out, too. Beards are alpha as hell.

4
Afeazo 4 points ago +4 / -0

They get more dull after each use, I have no idea how a disposable lasts you months. My facial hair comes in thick so my blades get ruined quick and since a blade costs me like 10 cents it doesnt matter to use a new one each time.

3
Avenatti2020 3 points ago +3 / -0

Dude idk how. I have a harry’s razor that’s been on the same cartridge for almost 2 months. Facial exfoliator first then it’s usually a smooth shave, even with a used razor.

I guess I don’t have a job where I have to be clean shaven all the time so maybe that helps? Still weird to be spending a shitload of money of razors of all things

2
Redleg37 2 points ago +2 / -0

Agreed. I like maggard razors.

1
the_sky_is_falling 1 point ago +1 / -0

Got a website where you can buy this?

1
Afeazo 1 point ago +1 / -0

To be honest I just bought mine at Walmart.

8
tgwbd 8 points ago +8 / -0

If you like a super close shave with minimal fuss for very little money, I can confirm that nothing beats a double-edged safety razor. A decent properly-weighted handle is maybe $30 tops and you can splurge on super high quality blades. There are several variety packs on Amazon you can use to get a feel for what brands and types of blades work best for you. When used correctly with fresh quality blades you will not get razor burn. In quantity the blades are so cheap you can use a new one ever few shaves and not even care.

However... on a total whim I picked up one of the Philips Norelco OneBlade face + body starter packs. Wife likes it because the cut hairs are less sharp when they start growing back and I like it because it's plenty close for me and I get zero razor burn ever. More expensive, but it's a solid product. Still cheaper in the long run than Gillette for sure.

6
The69thBrokage 6 points ago +6 / -0

Can confirm. 100 Shark blades for $7

1
Redleg37 1 point ago +1 / -0

I got a handle that was a blem from maggard razors for $10, and I order blades that are $15-20 for 100 on amazon.

3
diapper 3 points ago +3 / -0

Edwin jagger razor and feather blades for me. Taylor of old bond street sandalwood shaving cream and a badger brush. Gives a magnificent shave.

2
DinosaurAlert 2 points ago +2 / -0

I use feather as well. People starting should get 3-4 brands to try out and pick the one that works best for them based on their hair/face.

1
AnnoyedSoPosting 1 point ago +1 / -0

Funny enough, the razor model is what that's called in economics. Gillette basically founded that as an economic model.

1
MikesBigJockstrap 1 point ago +1 / -0

I bought a Merkur (German) double-sided safety razor a long time ago and it gives me a great shave every time, and now there's American companies making safety razors again. I'd recommend Battle Brothers (USA) or Feather (Japan). Throw that dull disposable gillette/dsc garbage in the trash where it belongs.

If you go for a shave brush, I suggest getting a synthetic brush unless you want to deal with the bad smell of a natural brush for a month until it's conditioned.

22
Tx50bmg 22 points ago +22 / -0

BLM is a black supremacist terrorist organization.

I’ve received notifications from several businesses about their support for BLM. Good to know those are companies I no longer support. Looking at you Target, Lowe’s, McDonald’s and others.

28
Tx50bmg 28 points ago +28 / -0

It’s going to be every business because those that don’t profess love for BLM will be shaken down. Jesse “King of Beers” Jackson has been doing this for decades with his PUSH Coalition.

PS: check out LiveLeak news online for a list of businesses supporting BLM

I see it is time to DOUBLE efforts to start shopping local. I got a good little place that does burgers. They are more expensive than mcd's, but mcd's is now officially dead to me. I am lucky to have another small store that does some of what target does. We also have a couple of hardware stores. God Bless America!

7

Dollar shave club was bought by the same company that owns Gillette 2016 (Unilever)

I hate shaving anyways and only for a surgery and a funeral have I shaved in the last 20 years.

6
SpaceTiger [S] 6 points ago +6 / -0

I’m the same way - I rarely use a razor other than beard trimmers. I have a lot of women in my household though and they all need their pits and legs shaved. Not sure what we are gonna do now yet.

BTW Got my wife one of those razers and she uses it no problem.

Systemic racism. So where is this system? How is it racist? Does anyone have any evidence of actual racism? Of course not. Where is all this crime and injustice focused? Where is all this poverty and despair? Where are these black people being oppressed? Oh in Democrat controlled cities? Fascinating. So the people who are saying the system is racist live in cities run by Democrats who promise year after year to end racism? Dude you’re being lied to. Or you’re an idiot for believing them.

What the fuck is systemic racism, even?! I’ve yet to get a good answer to that question. Their answer is always, “if I have to educate you, you’re too stupid to understand.”

I do believe the time for dialog has ended.

EDIT: Oh wait, I have an example of systemic racism: minority scholarships and affirmative action. Never mind.

3
JimmyJames 3 points ago +3 / -0

I just recently switched to using an old timey safety razor. Dude, it's awesome.

You have a lot of choices. Here's what I went with:

  • Merkur Futur MK 23C Long-Handled Traditional Double Edge Safety Razor
  • Astra Platinum Double Edge Safety Razor Blades, 100 Count
  • Henry Cavendish Himalaya Shaving Soap with Shea Butter & Coconut Oil. Long Lasting 3.8 oz Puck Refill.
  • Perfecto 100% Pure Badger Shaving Brush
  • Perfecto Deluxe Chrome Razor and Brush Stand
  • Henry Cavendish Gentleman's Ceramic Shaving Soap Bowl with Handle.

The blades are good for a long time. The shaving soap pucks are also an excellent value. The razor itself, the stand, and the shaving mug will most likely outlive me.

Just another option to consider.

Why would they legitimately need millions of dollars to have "real people", 'naturally", attend rallies? Where does he money factor into this at all?

If it was legitimate, you make a hashtag, people like it and agree, people hold protests, you convince people at protests to your message, you vote for changes. I fail to see where money should even factor into the equation what so ever.
