I agree. Perhaps Trump should have insisted that they bivouaced on the WH grounds, and even inside the White House. Think about the statement that would make. to the world.
Trump brings in NG to protect D.C. from burning, the D.C. mayor tries to expel them so her people CAN burn down D.C., Trump shelters those who are there to save America and our shared heritage, including all the monuments, historic churches, etc.
You would be amazed at how used to it we are at this point. People in the middle east like us more than those in any large coastal US city. I have been yelled at and called a murderer for stopping to get gas on my way to work in uniform here. In other countries, they knew we were US military even out of uniform, and everyone went out of their way to welcome us.
I understand your concern but trust me as a long time infantry sergeant and later officer, when you are tired you don't want to wait to sleep and if you're in a tactical environment you don't want to be crammed in a hotel, these soldiers are safe and dry life is good
I understand what you're getting at and I agree with you. I'm not upset that they're sleeping outside. They're soldiers and will be fine. What upsets me about the picture is the reason they're sleeping outside. The damned mayor kicked them out of their hotel rooms.
Holy shit they get sleep??
We didn't get that when I was in the ranks.
Kidding aside, I'm pretty sure many of them don't mind that much.
kids are tough, they'll be ok

Sleep is way overrated. Hot chow on the otherhand....
They got kicked out of hotels by the mayor

I bet some of them even griped about it as they nodded off.
Pretty likely, wish I were with them
I've slepted on a pile of warm spent brass (20mm). Get it when you can.
No one thinks the mayor did the right thing. The people here are just being nostalgic. It’s not about you. Be calm. Be calm. We are all friends.

Go sign up. That's when you'll understand.
Stop whining. So long as they aren't taking fire, they are fine and happy.
Get the fuck out of here with that faggety username
