On a sub reddit for the video game NBA 2K. Guy writes: "This is for my cousin who was murdered by Philadelphia PD." He posted an image of a player, in the game, wearing a t-shirt with "I can't breathe" on it.
People responded, "what a terrible way to die."
Me: "What is a terrible way to die? What are the details?"
Response: "What the Op wrote."
What are the details? We were told Brown was murdered. Then it turned out the cop shot Brown in self defense when Brown charged the cop. We were told Castile was murdered. Then it turned out he had reached for a gun which his girlfriend conveniently left out of the video frame as she live streamed "racist cop shoots unarmed black man." When it was found out he had a gun, the narrative changed from "unarmed black man" to "he had a permit." OH, so if I have a gun permit I can pull the gun out and shoot a cop - got it. The narrative changed to, "he was reaching for a cell phone." Then the narrative changed to,"well, he wasn't going to shoot the cop, just show him the gun. The cop is too nervous." The cop told Castile multiple times to not reach for the gun.
Now we're supposed to kneel for mercy over white privilege when someone writes anything like, "racist cops killed my _____".
Castile's death was sketchy as shit. I find it hard to believe that someone who was legally doing a CCW would pull a stunt like that. Not saying it couldn't happen, just that the story doesn't pass the smell test. In general, CCW holders are more law abiding than the police

As tough as it is we just have to calmly make our point and then let them decide when they calm down who was being more reasonable. Some will project, deflect and move the goal post just for exercise but if you can don't play those games.
That's what I've told people. "I'm not going to argue. I am like a grandfather. I give you the info. You can take it or not."
