Reparations? Yeah right. The vast majority of white Americans don't even have slave owner ancestors. Less than 5% of whites in America can have their ancestry traced back to slave owners. And the notion of making a great great grand kid pay for something that happened nearly 200 years ago, is even more preposterous, let alone someone elses kid that came to America 100 years after slavery ended. And what about all those white slaves in the US? There were plenty of them. There are also plenty of blacks that have no ancestry to slavery at all, both because their families were never slaves in America, even during times of slavery, and also because tons of blacks have come to the US since slavery ended. And these people certainly weren't slaves. Their momma wasn't a slave. Their grand daddy wasn't a slave. Hell, even their great grand daddy wasn't a slave.

Many see themselves as a separate nation. Black kids get beaten up for acting white, or having white names, or listening to white music. I always wonder about this, too. How do they “prove” they are actual descendants of slaves? What if their black ancestors were never here in the Americas - like Barack Obama, for instance. Or came well after slavery was abolished?
My ancestors also had absolute zero involvement in slavery - except for the Quakers on my Mom’s side who immigrated from Europe to New England and, true to their beliefs, condemned slavery and preached against it and most probably helped slaves escape any way they could. My Dad’s people were too busy working to death in the coal mines of Ireland to get to think a lot about slavery in America. He was the first of his family to ever come to America, and that was in the 1960s.

My family, who immigrated here legally, was not in America until after slavery was officially ended. I was born after the Civil Rights Act of 1964. I'm a Christian, so I known and believe we are all sinners, so all are equal. And, secularly, my folks put more value in people's actions and their character, than really any other part of what someone is (their skin color, their "name", etc).
So, this list is asking me to
a) dishonor my family's yearning to be part of America (so our family could have a better life),
b) replace my lifelong-practiced religion, and
c) start treating blacks differently because of their skin color?
Crazy enough, there were a few movements to return to Africa during Reconstruction. I can't remember his name, but there was a former slave that led one where his intent was to take the vast majority back but he only ended with a couple hundred.

That has always been true. it's a fact of our species that you can't cram a bunch of people with totally disparate backgrounds, worldviews, values, desires, and priorities all in the same place and just expect it to work somehow. It has always and will always end in violence. An uncomfortable truth that we've been trying to forget and ignore for decades is that people are meant to stick with their own kind in their own place. Those different groups can be friendly with each other, but they not meant to blend together.
If you are correct, at this point in America, how would it even be possible to segregate even if that’s what the entire American population decided to do? Section off chunks of the country and have everyone pack up and move to their corresponding landmass?
Such a thing just isn’t possible. The multicultural pendulum is in full swing, and we need to figure out ways to make this work as best as possible, or every last one of us is royally screwed.
Sooner or later, it's going to end up coming down to the same thing it has come down to in every civilization when two or more disparate groups try to occupy the same area. I always wonder about this, too. How do they “prove” they are actual descendants of slaves? What if their black ancestors were never here in the Americas - like Barack Obama, for instance. Or came well after slavery was abolished?
My ancestors also had absolute zero involvement in slavery - except for the Quakers on my Mom’s side who immigrated from Europe to New England and, true to their beliefs, condemned slavery and preached against it and most probably helped slaves escape any way they could. My Dad’s people were too busy working to death in the coal mines of Ireland to get to think a lot about slavery in America. He was the first of his family to ever come to America, and that was in the 1960s.
