I'm currently stationed in Germany and I would WELCOME getting out of here early. It's not the worst place ever but I'm pretty tired of it. And the military housing here is beyond retarded.
Ok. First off, how is slashing troop presence by 9,500~ abandoning Europe? And if troop presence in Germany is symbolic of America's obligation to protect Europe, how is that paid in return? Because between the disgusting tariffs they impose heavily on the U.S., the lackluster funds they seem short on, the constant undermining of politics in the U.S. (a foreign nation to them) they don't have any business in, or the EU's treatment of U.S. allies who get the short end of the stick for trying to maintain any semblance of autonomy, this friendship seems awfully one sided. Not just to America, but any "friend" that refuses to tow the line. And if you've got to bend the knee, is that friendship or servitude?
Their responses are textbook entitlement. We don't owe it to ANYONE to protect their borders. The US has the largest standing military in Europe. Think about that for a second.. your tax dollars are paying for others to neglect defense in order to pay for their socialized programs.
Between this and our increased drug prices, the USA subsidizes most of Europe's "free" programs.

was in frankfurt during the late 70's. we definitely benefited their economy
I can’t wait to leave Europe standing there naked and alone. The greatest red pill will be facing reality without subsidized defense from the USA.
They forget to mention military bases boost the economy of that area. Places like Leesville wouldn’t be shit without Fort Polk.

I say pull everyone and everything out, including the concrete foundations if possible
I’m sure all these vibrant Muslim refugees can fill the void that are boys are leaving behind
Why not move those troops to Poland?
they would pay 100% for their upkeep
Right there with you.
Our Nato allies, in my opinion are damn near our adversaries.
They hate the president because he demands they pay their fair share.
They want to go back to the simple days where they have a puppet in the white house
Thats all

Last time I checked, Germany was a very rich industrial country. They can protect themselves without our money or troops over there.
It will be cheap to relocate them to our new Polish base (that Poland is building for us). The troops will be in the vicinity, just not in Germany.
