I passed the test and interview months ago, and my oath ceremony was scheduled April 1st (hah) but was postponed indefinitely once Covid hit. I was so frustrated and sad, especially since it's an election year and I didnt want to miss it, but had to just wait.
Guess what arrived in the mail yesterday! My new invitation letter! And it's scheduled for my birthday!?! Best gift EVER, thank you America!! And I will get to VOTE!! TRUMP 2020 MAKE AMERICA EVEN GREATER AGAIN WE WILL RISE FROM THE ASHES AND IT'S GONNA BE LIT πππππΊπΈπΈβ¨
Congrats. And know that you know about America and itβs history than a majority of its citizens.
I try. It's not like I learned anything about it at school in my home country, and for a while I was happy with what knowledge I gleaned from reading here and there. But I've finally been TRYING to study for real, listening to the Great Courses lectures on American History during this shutdown, and it has been eye-opening to say the least. Lots of interesting parallels, it seems.
Probably best that way. Our school system is a bunch of anti American horseshit now.
I guess that's true. Better to know you know nothing, than to think that you know it all and never learn.
Oh awesome, thanks so much for the recommendation! I'll check that out :)
They were designed for children but you can enjoy them at any age. If your library doesn't have them, they need to get them.
I recommend them, my kids loved them. To be fair and balanced, To get the other side I recommend shark boy and lava girl.
Hey, feel free to PM me about any history or government questions you have along the way. I teach US history and Government and have a masters degree in US history. I am also one of the rare conservatives who teach those subjects. I would be honored to help you out.
Ahh thank you, that's very kind of you! I will keep that in mind for sure, if I do. Do you have any recommendations for conservative/unbiased resources? You can reply here or by PM, either is fine :)
Check out the Hillsdale College website. They have free online courses on dozens of subjects, including American history, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. It's an excellently designed resource for learning at your own pace. And they don't take a dime of taxpayer money.
Ooh thanks! I've seen a few ads for that site but never checked it out properly. That's too cool that they share all that for free π
Definitely Hillsdale College! Lots of information there.
What kind of things are you interested in or want to learn more about? I can go into US history, government, Christianity, western philosophy, warfare, geopolitics etc. Depending on your interest I will find you a book that suits your purpose.
BTW I saw in another post that your husband turned you on to Christianity. Do you mind if I ask what denomination? I do not wish to convert you or anything like that, but I do know good books that apply to pretty much any denomination. Christianity is my favorite part of all the subjects I teach.
Oh man like all of the above π But what piqued my interest the most so far is the period of the Great Awakening, and how Christianity and the Age of Enlightenment shaped the bedrock of this country and the reasoning of her founding fathers. It sort of feels like we may possibly be on the cusp of another sort of Awakening, if not already in one right now, so yeah I'd love to learn more about it!
And to cut a long story short, he was raised Baptist but we've essentially ended up being Hebraic Christians, although we didnt know there was a term for it until much later. I suppose because its related to that, the first few centuries of Christian history, right up to the whole Constantine and Nicene Council period, is something I've always been curious about too.
A conservative U.S. History and Government teacher that also reads the Lord of the Rings? Where were you when I was in high school? We had an extreme leftists brainwashing us.
Private Christian schools are the only ones that will let me get away with teaching real history lol.
Do you have a website or anything?
Nope. I guess I could make one. Maybe Iβll do that as a summer project. Iβll keep you posted.
I feel like that's true. I'm a citizen of the US and I'm very curious about the test, the content of the test, and I'm even wondering about the materials, do they provide a textbook (something I can read?) to prepare for the test (is there any sample quizzes I can try out?)
I never went to the middle and high school in the USA, I was abroad in Russia studying history about Russia and ended up graduating in Russia. Now I'm in the USA, seeking good education for myself to learn more about this great, great country.
On the topic note, congratulations OP!
The pool of questions doesn't ever change much, check out https://www.uscis.gov/us-citizenship/naturalization-test for the official guides and resources, they even give you the answers so it's just a matter of memorization. The thing that helped me the most was a flashcard phone app, you can find a ton on them on app stores by simply searching for something like "naturalization test." Good luck!
Thank you! I've been living here for quite a while and it's felt like home for so long now, but I put off applying for a few different reasons. Like finances, but also cough didn't want to pledge my aid and allegiance to the Obama administration and its madness cough. My American husband won me over to Christianity so that had a lot to do with it too, with not wanting to swear myself to such an earthly "kingdom" as that. Looking back, that might have been a poor choice, honestly I don't know. But America is its people, and its flag, and its values. We ARE supposed to be one nation under God, and I want to help with trying to take it back!
Welcome. Just in the nick of time!! :) Perhaps we can refresh the tree of liberty without blood...
πππΊπΈ
I really, truly hope so. I've been praying every day about it lately. I think we're winning in a lot of ways but the fight might still come to us. Best to be prepared π
Best birthday everrrrr!
It really is ππ
Legal immigrants are the best kind of immigrants.
Damn right we are
Welcome to the crew! God bless you pede!
Enjoy a world where you can achieve anything you set your mind to. A land where we judge people based on their character and not the color of their skin. Oh and where the loud minority try and take control of your life.
π Thank you. I know its not perfect here but with regulations and taxes being slashed here and there, it gets a little easier! And hehe I used to be terrified of the backlash especially since I'm a freelancer "dependent on social media", but you get enough anyway for being even remotely conservative in public online, so I'm more used to it now. Lost some friends, it hurt, but you just keep truckin' along.
That's all you can do. Hope you have a great rest of your summer, and again welcome.
Congrats pede! I became a citizen last August. It was one of the best days of my life.
Very cool. Where did you come from?
Romania.
You guys have nice pornstars...or so i've been told...
Congratulations to you too friend!! π I'm not sure if this is gonna be a group ceremony or just a one-on-one oath, but either way I'm stoked β
Very cool. Where did you come from?
Congratulations! Happy upcoming Birthday, as well. Hope its a great day, everything you could wish for.
We are!
Congratulations!
Congratulations!
God bless you man. legal immigrants are bigger patriots than Democrats will ever be.
Congratulations! Welcome home.
Congrats! Glad everything worked out for you.
Congratulations. How many guns you plan on starting off with?
Hahaha that, my friend, is for me to know and for criminals and tyrants to find out π
I didn't know at first though, that even residents can bear arms! So I could have got some all by myself even sooner.
Congratulations!! Welcome home!
Welcome to the US!
Make us proud fellow citizen
Congrats! Welcome to the club and good job on all the hard work you put in. ππππππ
Thank you so much!
Happy Birthday too π
My husband passed the test and interview back in February and was scheduled for March 24th. This gives us hope...He has been living in the USA for 38 years. He always said that the only benefit of being a citizen was the ability to vote and until now there was never a candidate that he wanted to vote for...Trump changed his mind! We are in PA so we need his vote!
Ahh praying he gets his rescheduled soon too! PA is a beautiful state, here's hoping it goes red π
Congratulations and welcome; we need more like YOU!!
First, welcome to your Christian family. Second, congratulations on passing the test/interview and, soon, pledging allegiance for the first time as a citizen! Third, happy birthday! So much rebirth and renewal in your life that it brings joy to so many others, myself included!
Finally, your username concerns me. π Please reach out if you're in need of some good recipes!
ππ Thank you so much fren! And haha I chose it because it's what we'll be eating if those damned commies win π
We have the best folks, believe me
Congrats pede. And then get as many guns as you can and protect your freedom and family
Amen to that!
Good for you! And for our country. Welcome!
CONGRATULATIONS.
Congratulations!
Welcome friend! Congratulations!
That's awesome! Never give up hope! Welcome friend, make yourself at home!
HUGE!
Bigger and better than ever before!
πΊπΈ
Congratulations!
Remember, regardless of all the warm wishes you receive, ignore the evidence of your eyes and accept the DNC-media complexβs narrative that Trump supporters hate immigrants.
Welcome Patriot!
Congratulations new patriot. You should go out and buy a firearm in celebration of this achievement. Not only will you be supporting the second amendment but helping to protect the rest of your rights as well.
Gratz and thank you
Also I am jealous but just love you as a Trump supporter
Nice.
Congrats. We need you on the front lines.
Welcome citizen!
Congratulations and have a happy birthday!
Congrats!!!!
Welcome to the family bud
Congratulations!!
Welcome home. God bless the USA and you!
Been getting into Hillary's hot sauce cabinet again, have you Barack?
Had a friend whose ceremony was delayed for the COVID- so dumb! Welcome!
Thanks! And ugh, it's been maddening. I hope your friend has already been given a new ceremony date, or that it'll be set for him/her very soon!
Welcome! Congrats!! <3 <3
