I suggest moving to state in the middle of America. Setup your business there. You want to practice law then go there build your base. That will open up to come back later if you still want to come back to you roots.
I am not patronizing you. I haven't built a business, but I would really like to build one in my home town/city. I came to the realization that it is just not worth it at the moment since too much would be wasted where I could build a better base just in the nearby state and grow. If successful enough I could come back and change things here.
I have loved ones here, and know almost nobody there yet everything is pointing it to be the best solution.(I come from a family of very stubborn individuals where it quite literally takes several bad things to get things through their heads. Everyone in my family is like that.)
I would suggest North or south Carolina or even Kansas.Possibly Alabama, but you would know what fits for you. Just spitting out some ideas.
I'm in a similar situation. I want to start my own business here in NY (Long Island) but everything is so damn expensive, and there are so many fucking illegals working here and flooding the market.
Rent is absolutely insane, and I'm not spending 600 on a totally crap house. In my town there's nothing under 800,000. Not even joking. It's just tough to up and move on your own. I've done it before.

Yes. I am actually using the markets to help with this, although, it is a literal trial in patience.
