The world (well, some of it anyway) has gotten so completely taking-it-to-thirteen insane that I am honestly not a hundred percent sure that image is a joke..........

So what's funny is that right now I'm sort of an agnostic. I'm really undecided on the whole Christianity thing. But if I am ever told I have to renounce Jesus Christ to get some benefit, or they take something away from me, that's the day I officially become a Christian again, and probably join our Lord in the heavens on the same day as well.

Same here

My question would be "if you think Jesus is as much BS as Zeus, why aren't you asking me to renounce Zeus?" If you want me to renounce someone, there's obviously a reason why.

Honestly, I would like to dive into being a christian. I just haven't been able to do it. Just can't do for it. Maybe I'll get there one day.

So my biggest hurdle is the fact that the translations have been done pretty abysmal. Because I speak Greek, I started reading and comparing, and there were so many discrepancies that I had to dig deeper, and I started reading some of George Lamsa's books, and it clicked in. Most of the translations were translated with ignorance. Like if you were to translate "It's raining cats and dogs" into another language, the words would made sense, but the meaning would be completely lost. Translate that into Spanish, or Greek, and native speakers will look at you weird. They understand the words, They don't understand the meaning.

My sticking point is that so far, it appears there has not been any heavenly oversight in getting that message out. We'd had to repair it ourselves as best as we can, and that's totally unfair a burden for us to have.

I'm the same way for sure. Among other things. How do we even know what we are reading is what needs to be conveyed. Some would say, God wouldn't let it get corrupted and the essence lost.....even with the translation issues and vatican stuff.

Which doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

Well it's a tough situation dude, because with ignorance it's easy to believe, but once you have knowledge, it becomes a lot harder.

100%, the Greek manuscripts themselves have differences. Sometimes minor, and a few major ones. Sometimes entire verses are added. And we're still in the realm of the original papyri here, we haven't even moved out to the translations.

So how the heck am I supposed to take all that information? My dad says I shouldn't worry about it, since the concept of Biblical Inerrancy is a man-made idea, and does not really come across in the texts, and it really doesn't. The writers were self contained in their own books, and by coincidence a lot of it overlaps.

If that's the case, then I would assume the God of the universe can't hold someone like me at fault. I don't want to seem like I'm some kind of superhero, but in the sense of knowledge I have been given so much, I don't want to bite the hand that feeds me, lol

I heard it put well once by someone.

You know, disproving the bible, talking snakes, all of the fantastical stuff that isn't real.

He said, don't think about the bible as a book of facts, but instead of as a book of truth.

This!

It is obvious even to those who do not bow the knee to Jesus Christ that He is opposed to oppression and is the one who loves mankind.

I'm hopeful I'm wrong dude, because we can definitely use that super horsepower right now.

Christ said that in order to be His disciple you must eat the flesh AND drink the blood of the Lamb. These guys are only demanding half measures!

exactly

They're going to force me to slay the goat before I drink its blood? That's a waste of a perfectly good goat! Next they'll be trying to dictate how many of my children I can put through the fire and which high places I need to use to do so.

My church sacrifices liberals. God needs appeasement.
