Thankfully, only local dealers have the actual record of who owns what guns, and of course when the dealer submits the serial number of a weapon you want to buy, along with your personal data, to make sure you're not prohibited from owning it, the BATFE doesn't keep any of that information. Strangely, the NSA routinely monitors private communication involving people who they deem to be potential threats.
Any law that says the firearm was illegal is unconstitutional. All gun laws are illegal and it's past the time that we should be pushing back against that. People have a right to be armed. Period.
Your mileage may vary in Democrat controlled jurisdictions. Just look at what happened to Michael Strickland in Portland. Similar situation, attacked and pursued by a mob, and he didn't even fire a shot, yet he was charged and convicted of multiple felonies.
No weapon or deadly force was used in this case either. Michael Strickland had been physically attacked by the mob that was pursuing him and attempting to surround him, which is why he was leaving the area.
The cop he pointed his weapon at was undercover and mixed in with the mob, so he had no way of knowing that he was a police officer. There are no magazine capacity restrictions in Portland or in Oregon. He had a CHL and his firearm was legally carried.
I live in Oregon and carry every day. I'm very familiar with the Strickland case and the gun laws of this state.

Defense of property won't save you. If you use deadly force to defend only property, you're likely screwed.

From my ccw class they made it very clear you cannot fire just bc you’re being beaten up. You have to be in fear for your life, not just injured.
All that’s up to the jury to decide, but i wanted to clarify what’s being taught. Someone reaching into your car will likely not convince a jury that deadly force was your only option.

It's ridiculous that the driver is in custody unless it's for an unrelated offense. This happened in my home town as well except no one was shot but a citizen whose car was swarmed was arrested for brandishing a firearm and public disturbance if you can believe that bullshit
