I honestly think what happened with Obama was very similar but from the other side. I think prior to 2008 Obama was a radical leftist. And then when it looked like he was going to win, the DNC gave him establishment hack Biden as his running mate and then they had Citibank pick his cabinet which they filled with establishment neocons. Hence W's 2 wars ramped up to Obama's 7 wars. The neocons figured out that it is much easier to push foreign wars with the Democrats now since the Democrats were in control of the media and the media decided to put zero scrutiny on the Obama administration. So they switched back to the Democrats which is where they originally started off.
