I'm pretty sure that the Mormon church did not allow black members until the late 70s when the IRS threatened to remove their tax exemption as a church because of their discrimination.

Shortly thereafter their President got a sudden revelation from God that said black people were now allowed.

Curious how "God" can change religious beliefs held for decades because of tax considerations.
