The shoulder scarves were what really threw me off. Isn't that from a specific African tribe? Won't 99.99% of black Americans never wear something like that or have any understanding of what it is/what it means?
It's like they put all their strategists to work saying: "OK, we need to wear something 'black'! What do you got?! Parachute pants? No, no, too 80's. We could all just sag really hard and only wear white tees? No, not enough gravitas. I got it! What about those weird African scarves that sometimes African political leaders wear? Let's do that!
