I've always been a sports fan. I played every sport as a kid and grew up listening to Jack Buck doing Cardinal games and Dan Kelly doing Blues games on the radio. I honestly think the modern athlete lacks the intensity of previous eras. Everyone makes so much money now that their focus is on extending their careers and banking more cash instead of doing anything they can to win. I've heard football players say they don't even care who wins the game as long as they get to do a celebration dance at least once during the game.
Now I'm pretty sure that whatever we get after this is all over will be contaminated with politics. Except maybe the NHL. Canadian farmboys and former Soviet bloc players don't really get into American politics much.
I think it's only fair that the number of whites / blacks / asian / hispanic / etc are all represented equally in sports. So, if black people make up 12% of the population, then the number of black athletes should be 12%. I mean, if it is anything other than exactly 12%, then it is systemically racist.
