We should privatize education. If my tax money is going to fund shitty teachers over good ones, I’d rather take it and directly give it to people that can actually teach them something of value. Make it tax free. Teachers capable of educating kids to perform well on relevant metrics will thrive. Babysitters will go back to babysitting in a more literal sense. We can easily do away with a lot of what many teachers are doing by making quality lectures available on the internet. It’d make most of education at that level an apprenticeship and tutor economy, which is preferable to a baby sitting economy.
I can’t take seriously when most teachers out here in the Bay say they’re underpaid though, or when they ask for more money. Most start off around 70-80k and go up to 120k. That’s a lot to be paying a public school teacher.
