One in the ear. That’ll do it.

It penetrates ribs easily... so a shot in the chest will convert your ribcage into a hand grenade... not very good for your organs.

As I've said before, it takes an ice cream scoop out of your target. If you're shooting at someone's toes, you got other problems.

Yeah right. Seriously I've shot all kinds of guns and if I had 1 weapon to take to unknown situations, 22 would be the best option. My opinion of course.

My opinion of course.>

It's a bad opinion. Yeah: the mob used ..22s. Pistols. For up-close killings. Because they're quiet and the round usually doesn't leave the skull, so it's cleaner, and less likely to hit unintended targets.

But in a rifle? For combat? Or self-defense? Ridiculous. The most high-powered .22LR has 1/5 the muzzle energy of the weakest .223; at 5 ft, in the face: sure. But I've been shot w/.22 LR, up close, and at an angle it wouldn't even penetrate my ribs (thankfully). The whole point of a rifle vs. a pistol is to extend your effective range; at that extended range, a .22LR is too weak to reliably stop opponents. If this is your "1 weapon to take to unknown situations" and the "unknown situations" involve something more hazardous than varmint hunting or plinking, then you "chose poorly."

No single caliber does more killing. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah. Up close, in cheap Saturday night specials. They're popular and ubiquitous because they're cheap. That doesn't mean it's a rational choice for self-defense, particularly against an armed opponent. The Toyota Corolla is the most-sold car in the world, by far, and therefore likely has the most miles, as a model, but it's still not the vehicle of choice for anyone who can afford better.
