This all started in Hollywood and it all started with the Re-boots. Follow me on this.
First they got us used to the idea of classic media symbols being "re-booted". We were fine with this. Then we got re-boots and "re-imagining's" (sound familiar?) It was the nerdy stuff first because the nerds were lonely, and nobody likes them, but they consume a lot of media about the fantastic and they form vast networks based around their interests on social media. You notice there wasn't a lot of interest in rebooting, say John Wayne movies (except True Grit, which isn't half bad), or Gunsmoke, or the Rifleman or Hee-Haw or anything that carries forward the Herman Munster adage about individual character. Nothing even remotely Patriotic unless it was Captain America (and just look how he's presented in the Marvel movie...a propaganda symbol for American consumption
during WWII). Nobody cared because that's all that nerdy stuff that nobody really considers culturally important. It's that stuff for kids. In these "re-imaginings" what do we see? Characters that were originally held up as moral heroes were "re-imagined" into a gritty, dark version of themselves where their faults were magnified. Our heroes aren't really heroes, their moral strength is a lie, a deception. These men are just men and they have their demons, they're multi-dimensional. This was most easily illustrated by the line in The Dark Knight "You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain." (Notice no option for continuing heroism and service) Okay, fine. Saw some good stories with that theme, especially when the moral hero confronts his demons and overcomes them. But then, after we were all fine with the dark, gritty reboots, and shortly after the SCOTUS ruled on gay marriage, came "woke" Twitter. Many of those people were in college then, getting their Marxist indoctrination. They are out now and running the NYT. And quickly after that we got the "woke" "re-imaginings" that failed horribly at the box office because nobody wanted to see them, "woke" comics that nobody wanted to read where the heroes either turned into the villains or outright embraced Marxist ideology, and that, combined with Gamergate, caused a lot of the Nerds zeroed in on the apprehension and infiltration of their culture by this ideology. Red pills aplenty were dispensed. By this point the wokeness was there for everyone to see, but what is in the heads of these people now? We "re-imagined" Captain Kirk, We "re-imagined" Doctor Who, we "re-imagined" Rooster Cogburn, so why can't we "re-imagine" public safety, "re-imagine" education, "re-imagine" patriotism? And while we're at it why can't we "re-imagine" the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Flag?
Where is the line? Our culture and our history is being systematically erased out from under us, either through outright suppression, or "re-imagining". Postmodernist philosophy, absolutely. We see here the application of the notion that meaning is created inside the individual only, and that's not true. Politics is downstream from culture and culture exists to preserve meaning and transmit it to further generations. It is now abundantly clear that those cultural transmitters (media companies, schools, higher ed, ) have been completely subverted by Communist Ideologues. Joe McCarthy was right all along.
Now I've talked to a few friends about this. Most of them think we should just allow it to continue, the idea being that it will eventually fizzle out after the election and the demands on Hollywood movie companies will be to make stuff that will appeal to broader audiences or they will go bankrupt and eventually the market will take care of this. But does anyone honestly think when Hollywood opens back up we are going to get anything but more Commie indoctrination? Are all these virtue signaling companies going to fail? After what we are currently witnessing? Are they going to self-immolate? Or are they, too, going to follow the path of the NYT and not only triple-down on the wokeness? Because I don't buy the fact for a minute that market pressure is going to do anything to correct this. These media companies have lost millions of dollars and are just getting more and more Red. American Pop Culture is, for the most part now American Marxist Culture and it's extraordinarily powerful.
What do you guys think? Think it will self-immolate? What if it doesn't? Do we build a competing culture based on Patriotic American values? I keep hearing that there are more of us that there are of them but I don't know. They wouldn't be going for broke now unless they thought they had a shot and they won the popular vote last time. I hope we win this time, but we need to think of some way to win this for good because they aren't going to stop and we'll have to fight this nonsense again in about another couple of decades.
Yeah, the sellout to China is pretty obvious. Hollywood and the Dems probably sold us out years ago and they are just now coming to collect. I hope we make it to November without a China-sponsored coup attempt with Mattis in charge.
