I don't think the hippies of the sixties did. The conservatives and centrists of their generation elected Reagan. Many of the old hippies are like Bernie.
Many of the hippies of the 60s live here in Oregon now and are full blown communists. I know so many far Left Democrats over age 60 that most people wouldn't believe it. I wouldn't have believed it myself before I moved here. These old commies are just as batshit crazy as their younger counterparts and they aren't going to grow out of it or be red pilled.
People forget that 40 percent of America voted for McGovern, Mondale and Dukakis. The hippie commie element of the Democratic Party never voted Republican. Those were the blue collar working class Dems of the Midwest and Dixie south who elected Reagan.
Well, it seems like colleges went soft after the school shootings. So maybe the late 90’s early 2000s? That was when we had to understand everyone and nurture and give everyone a trophy so no ones feelings were hurt.
And yes, people who need attention should absolutely get it. But colleges turned into giant “I’m sorry” machines that created spoiled, deranged a holes who are now trying to tear down our society.

It was Nixon that finally ended the draft. Today's left is decedended from the people that supported segregation in the 60s.
