When you're a freethinking American patriot, by contrast, you see no need for "dog whistles" to message secret extremists within your ranks—you would instead root them out.
We don't do dog whistles, we just forthrightly say what's on our minds. That's one of the big benefits of being honest—having some actual virtue instead of just signaling it, being in the right and therefore on the right. When you're doing and saying the right things, you don't even think of concealing it. That would be unnatural.

When hillary said "Vast right-wing conspiracy," she was revealing the vast LEFT-wing conspiracy. When she called us "deplorables," that was intended as cover for HER and her minions being horrendously, inconceivably deplorable.
Whatever evil they're perpetrating, they blame on someone else to "get out in front of it". And their media lapdogs lap it up and dish it out to democrat voters, who also lap it up.
We have symbols as well like Pepe. Symbolism feels a bit of a vague description if using it neutrally. Their form of symbolism is in the negative tense.
Take one example: Destroying statues.
They're not using symbols just as expression but reading too much into them, using them to express things that are inflated and putting more value into them then there really is.
I think their symbolism is also linked to their tokenism quite often.
I think in this particular image it's how seriously they take themselves. If you take scenes such as crowds doing the nazi salute or muslims curled up in prayer it's even more extreme than that.
I guess out there somewhere there are studies of symbolism. The left also consider their symbols powerful. The right consider their symbols meaningful. Roughly speaking.
