Slavery wasn't a wrong when it happened, it was a system practiced forever by everyone to prop up their economy and get people to do low skills jobs to feed growing populations so your people could focus in other areas of society building. Slavery in 2020 bad, slavery in the 1500s-1800s part of life since forever.
We can look back and say it's bad but if it wasn't foreign slaves it would of been peasants and on and on, a caste of society was always being shat on and being taken advantage of because there were no tractors and industrial farming back then....
So you either used slave labor, starved, or abused the majority of your population to toil the land leaving it ill equipped to handle other countries raiding parties to slave your people.
Slavery wasn't evil it was an important part of society building during antiquity till the industrial revolution.
It wasn't globally established as wrong though in Europe it was generally prohibited.
The reasons for slavery taking off during expansion are for a few reasons. Least not of all the muslims were doing it to christians with authorisation given to do to them as they do to us.
Though there are other reasons as well such as outside of Europe being outside of jurisdiction and that while others are still doing it, gaining a competitive advantage from it you can't rule it out entirely if you want to compete.
Still the 1500s were very different times to now and circumstances weren't such that it was reasonable to expect universal abolition of slavery. More of a patchwork with slavery on and off but even back then Europe was ahead and very progressive eventually culminating in the abolition of slavery.
It's far past logic at this point. The leftist's methods are calculated and their position has nothing to do with anything other than gaining political power. They control what people see through their control of both the MSM fake news and with internet censorship.
And in terms of paying on a global scale, you might want to look into William Wilberforce.
"Paying" is a weird way of framing it too. Americans and the British were some of the first to outlaw slavery. The ending of slavery wasn't an African or Middle Eastern initiative. In fact, it still exists in those regions today.
This is stupid. So are reparations. Who is going to pay for Americans slaughtering Americans? I guess the same tyrannt that initiated the civil war, Abe Lincoln.
Quite a lot more than half of people didn't get here until after the civil war.
Guilty of my OWN sins, thanks.
Jesus Christ is available to those with debt.
Just finished watching the 3-part documentary series about Ulysses Grant on History channel. It was great and timely. Highly recommend.
Propaganda, but enjoy
I am named for my great, great uncle who was a Union cavalry captain during the civil war.
His sword -- which family lore tells me we are certain it was bloodied at close quarters on at least one occasion -- sits on my mantle.
He is not the only family member who fought for the union, but he is the most distinguished.
I never had any debts to begin with. But if I had, that's payment in full.
P.S, Still awaiting my people's reparations from Rome and Egypt. Germany owes me nothing as we were here in the US when Hitler arrived.
P.P.S, Now what about Kamala Harris? Didn't her family OWN slaves? What penance has she paid?
Harris isn’t familiar with penance, only penis.
This is the correct way to frame the argument. We paid.

This.
Using logic and reason to understand - let alone combat - these uprisings is folly.
Reparations were paid with citizenship instead of deportation.

Also, Abraham Lincoln was assassinated due to abolishment. Doesn't that count for anything?
Okay, but you can't really count the South's number towards that, and I believe some black people died fighting as well.
Killing one's enemies counts as reparations.
The southerners that the north was forced to kill absolutely count!
