I'm with you. Unfortunately the alternative is to use Android which is owned by globalist Google. You pretty much have to make a Google account to get the phone going just like you had to make an Apple account to get an iPhone going. We desperately need a third party to step up and get bigger to knock these two in the mouth. Windows Phone petered out and left us with a two man quasi-monopoly tag team. I wish we would get back to making more cell phones in America too. As it stands, we only have one Kyocera plant over in commie-fornia.
Yes and I have jumped down the root rabbit hole on a few of my devices including the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 I'm on now. You can also overclock it or make it really stingy on battery power which is awesome... The problem is if your phone is a bit obscure you probably won't find a root solution much less a rom for it. Unless of course you do it yourself which is beyond me at this point without bricking my device. Still, it's the best thing going now I reckon.

You can get an android, root it, put an a google-free ROM

Yes you have to check the XDA Developers forum to make sure there are current roms available (which means there is a current root)
