Democrats fucked it up by wanting slaves. If it was anything else, no one would have cared

Slavery was the issue, but not as people currently understand it. Opposition to slavery in the North was more about economic opportunity for whites during westward expansion...it was about not competing with free labor in the newly won western territories.

It's interesting to speculate if the slavery issue had never entered into it, how the central government in DC would have ended up weaker because it was unable to force big government initiatives on the states, as today, if there was a credible threat of secession.

For sure, a lot of the socialist crap pushed by the left never would have gained traction because states would just reject anything their population didn't want.

It was / is THE bastion of Bible-believing white Caucasian Protestants who were / are primarily Calvinists and nationalistic. This is a religious war at its core: Rome's counter-Reformation is still in full swing.

What do you mean by this Catholic counter-reformation and a religious war going on right now?

This! It's amazing the vitriolic reactions you get when you try to say that the Civil War was more than just about slavery. There's no denying that it was a factor for some, but it was much more about the North trying to control the South (similar to the current tensions between rural and urban areas). History is being eroded by feelings and idiocy.

What about these antifa fags? They no longer want to be apart of the USA. I feel we should go fuck them up, but I’m interested to hear your view since it’s anti liberty to not let them secede?

CHAZ presents us with an interesting quandary. On the one hand, it is unquestionably open treason, justifying the massive use of force to preserve the nation. On the other hand, it is the biggest opportunity in 100 years to teach the American people that Communism doesn't work. I'm leaning towards door #2, let them starve and melt down in a matter of days - never interrupt your enemy when he's making a mistake.

I had family members who fought for the Confederacy. They were sharecroppers. They didn't have slaves; didn't know anybody who owned slaves. They fought for their land against an invading Federal army.
