I know! I’ve had people tell me they just want to put the film in “context“. What could that possibly mean? It’s a historical fiction film. Yes it’s hard to find friends period in your thirties but I almost always have to complete hide my political views. My husband is the only person I can talk openly with.
I live in CA, I don't have any lefty friends left. I used to have one, but when Trump started his campaign, we started talking politics and I realized just how much of a Bernie-loving nut she was. As an immigrant from a socialist country I take it personally when someone is trying to sell me on Socialism. Haven't spoken to her in years. The rest of my female friends and acquaintances are either libertarians, conservatives, or immigrants from various places. But my real true will-walk-through-fire-for-them friends are my family. I am kind of walking through fire for them, metaphorically speaking, I'm staying in CA because of them.
I get it. Went out with DH and his friends and was like ahhh sweet freedom. I can finally say whatever I want. But with my female friends, I have to slowly over many months/years begin to seed tiny hints until they begin to suspect. It suckssss.
Some of my friends have drifted left over time. I try to keep my political leanings hidden so as not to start fights. There's more to life than politics anyways, there are other things to talk about.
There's one person who has unfortunately gone full commie who I don't associate with anymore, though (and not just because she went full commie)
It's tough. So many women eat up whatever the media feeds them. I've been disappointed in a number of my friends becoming belligerent and unwilling to listen to a differing opinion.
