I'm sickened at the mainstream media, the BLM "movement " that has turned a thug into a hero/Saint buried in a $20k to $40k gold plated casket. And ensuing "justified" riots.

My spouse, and her family are hard core democrats, and they have all drinked from the Dem Kool-aid.

I don't care anymore, I want to fight and show support for what I believe in.

Personal experience in Tulsa and surrounding close by cities has showed me that not many are wearing masks.

I've had a few people make comments that thought I couldn't hear them with negativity, about me wearing a mask, the one or two times I've been out on average per month briefly in public since the pandemic hit.

I just want to support our president and our great country. Just looking for advice.

Finally, I'm on disability (for now) I've been in the work force and paid my taxes for 20+ years and funds are extremely limited. Ideally Id like to purchase a firearm for home defense, and also concealed carry.

The bit of research I've done says to get a shotgun of some type, but with the country's current climate, Id like to carry as well (Oklahoma, has permitless carry laws to my understanding).

I'm assuming firearms and ammo are at a premium right now. If I had more funds at my disposal, I'd also sign up for classes and training as well.

Would you recommend a shotgun on the cheap for now for home defense in case someone, or someones kick my front door in? A budget handgun if Im out in public?

Thanks in advance for any advice or answers to my questions.

I would hope in general, the firearms community would be kind to a complete noob. Im pretty intimidated to potentially walk into a shooting range/store for the first time and not be taken advantage of. My Dad was in the Army, and served in Korea. He would correct me every time I said "gun", and would say it's a side arm, or a rifle, or shotgun. He passed relatively early, and I've never said "gun" since my teenage years. I typically say sidearm, shotgun, rifle, pistol, etc. Ive never been in the military personally, Im not sure if it's taboo to say "gun", perhaps it's a military thing?

The only word I stay away from is "weapon." (NRA discourages this word use when we are teaching, especially if mommy is listening) Use of other words depends on context. When talking about sidearm, is it a revolver or semi auto pistol? Again, it depends on the specific degree of specificity required. "I'm going to shoot guns" means more than one type.

Specifically in military "guns" refers to unrifled firearms from pistols to mortars to howitzers and sometimes a certain part of a troop.

A "bullet" is the part of the round that goes downrange. The cartridge is the case, powder, primer and bullet as a happy group aka round.

This can go on forever and I am sure there are others that may not agree totally with my riff. That is okay. Chime in, we all frens here!

If you walk into a store and the person is a jerk, walk out. Find another store. Most are salesmen and welcome the opportunity to show their knowledge and try to figure out your needs.
