Have you served? If you did you would know their is a tension between the enlisted and officers and between field officers and the high ranking Political Officers. They do not mindlessly follow orders but willing serve this nation..
I am serving right now and can tell you that some may "just follow orders" but the vast majority wouldn't. As for those on the fence, If they see the NCO core refuse the officers I am pretty sure they will side with the NCOs. It is the people they are close to and work with everyday. Unfortunately the split is divided among racial lines. not always but mostly.
I am curious what you have seen. As for myself I have seen the newer generations coming in, at least those with certain demographic backgrounds, have a strong lean towards libertarian thought and find the leftist ideology repulsive. I think the unfortunate reality is the same as we see for the public at large. In most cases the ideological lines are split between gender and race. Most, but not all.
