Indoctrination camp unions are against because then the people in their union will be held accountable to do something....like teach instead of pushing their insane social values
School choice destroyed the Christian school I went to. Much of the blame lies with the school admin, but allowing just anyone in with the goal of spreading the word brings the whole average down.
Massive increase in fights. Teachers started losing control of classrooms. Suspending a suburban kid was like a death sentence because their parents would also punish... Much more harshly than the school could.
But you bring in kids from broken homes with no respect, and they bring that same attitude to school. Parents viewed suspensions as a day off and didn't care what they did with their free time.
If you wanted to buy drugs, just ask a school choice kid. Some would hook you up, some would point you to a guy, some would sell you a bag of oregano.
So the school had an open admissions policy? Were they unwilling to expell problem students or unwilling to do so?
I am all for school choice, but the excessive subsidies and regulation by the state are corrupting. Our children's futures are being bankrupted by the cost of education.
I don't claim to know exactly what the admission criteria were, but you had to do something pretty aggregeous to get expelled. They were simply much too forgiving... Turn the other cheek and all that.
They viewed having these students around as a chance to teach them God's word, rather than expecting these kids to treat this opportunity to attend a top tier school as an amazing privilege.
As I said, much of the blame lies with the admin. But parents/kids with no skin on the game (in my limited experience) simply didn't give a shit. The parents who paid thousands of dollars per year made damn sure their kid was getting that value. That said, there were some who got in with school choice and it truly changed their lives. It's certainly not all bad.
Edit: I do agree though, the current public school system is corrupt as hell, much of that because teacher/admin hands are tied.
That's fair. But a school really does need to be ready to step into that disciplinary role, as the methods that worked previously are not strong enough.
Edit: and yea, that's why my first post said it was mostly admin.
I agree. Let the free market rule. If parents remove their kids from bad schools, it will either force the school to improve or shut down. A bad school shutting down is a plus. They have no incentive to improve right now because they know parents are forced to send their kids to certain schools.
Teacher Unions are against this because it will make them more accountable. Public schools will lose a lot of students because the public schools are failing. Private schools will start to thrive, and the unions and government don't have nearly as much control over the private institutions.
My brother is a teacher in Alameda, CA. It’s disgusting what they are going to do to children at his district. Kids and teachers will have to where mask all day. They will only meet 1 day a week in person and the rest is virtual...Even if they were to want to meet 5 days a week, the district doesn’t have enough money for a whole school year without cutting people. But he has coworkers who would rather be laid-off to collect UI because they would be making more on it. Some teachers want all virtual until a vaccine...I straight up told him that most will not put up with that and many will pull their child. CA schools are fucked!
I agree with Trump. It is the Civil Rights issue of our time. The left wing is using the schools to indoctrinate children into Marxist socialism, gender theory and intersectional feminism. I've said it before and I'll keep saying it, if you love your kids, you will take them out of public schools. Public schools are no longer about education but tearing down Christianity, causing division in society and inciting children to do the wackiest things to rebel against their conservative parent(s). Schools undermine our religions, basic morality and tear down anything that makes anyone successful in life.
And one of those choices is not to participate. No family should be forced to send their children to school. No young person should be forced to go to school when they prefer to work. Parents should not be required to apply to the state for a license so their children can work. Preferring working to schooling is a personal preference that should not be interfered with by the state.
Forcing a family to send a child to a bad school is state-sponsored child abuse. If a school is so dangerous it needs cops or security guards, the school should be shut down.
And a teenager can both work and go to school.
Work builds character. Work teaches. Work makes a boy into a man.
The fact that the left is against school choice literally shocked me to my core when I found out years ago. How can you claim to be for the working class, women and the "marginalized" when you literally screw them over by forcing their children into shit schools. I'm not even a parent, and this infuriates me. Even the progressives who claim to truly care are against this. Who cares if some rich white people benefit from it. Plenty of children in the hood can benefit from it as well. It's called equality of opportunity.
This is my number one issue. Nearly all of our country's problems stem from the corrupt, broken school system, including our racial inequality divide. And I have a personal grudge against the schools that betrayed me and robbed me of my full potential. If Trump makes school choice happen I will frame his photo and hang it on my wall.
Charter schools would solve so many problems in our society and would help poor minority communities the most.
With the amount of money funneled jnto education, coupled with competition to keep schools honest at producing educated students the level of education our nation would skyrocket.
The unintended consequences (or perhaps actually intended from the start) will be the devaling of top university. Since as the level of education K-12 goes up, universities will have to set up as well but now students may choose not to go to expensive colleges if k-12 education is good enough.
Couple that with student loan reform to allow students to declare bankruptcy on their loans and stop backing the risk by the government and cost to good higher education should should drop like a stone. Meaning you can pay your way through college again witb a part time job
This provides opportunity to all social exonomic classes.
I also suggest k-12 put a focus on american history and civics
Tfw privileged liberal elites want the government to pay for their college while there are kids out there who can’t even get a proper K-12 education.
Sure, we can talk about paying for college. But only after we make sure not a single child in this country gets anything less than an outstanding K-12 education.
Saying we should pay for college while there are kids out there who go to districts where the standardized test scores average so low they can’t even be accepted to any university is the most elitist and selfish thing I have ever heard of in my entire life. Might as well also guarantee every college grad a six figure salary regardless of finding employment while we’re at, sounds good doesn’t it you privileged fucks?
If a woman wants the choice to have an abortion, then mother's who keep and raise their child should have the choice of where to send their child to get a superior education.

Boggles the mind but leftists have convinced themselves to have a reason

Could you explain what went wrong?

Money corrupts as much as it builds.

School choice = black kids have a better chance at success = less Democrat votes
This x 1 Gorillian! 👆

Arizona has some of the top high schools in the nation - Basis Scottsdale, Chandler, Gilbert are in the top 20 I believe.

4 D Chess move! Excellent. That’s my President! 🤗

Yes yes yes, 1000 times yes.
I don’t know how he does it, but Trump basically says everything I’ve ever wanted any politician to say.

Yep. Pretty much.

Mandatory schooling is slavery.

Well that's news to me. I'll do some research myself. It'll be interesting to see when they fell astray.

I'm in the same boat. My high school counselor screwed me over.
God Twitter is such a shithole. All these ultra lib retards are now claiming that “all schools matter” and it’s fucking hilarious
If anyone knows of an elementary school in CA that does not make you wear masks in the fall and allows children tatted full time, let me know!
What's holding up school choice?

Choice of where you send your children is a civl right.
If a woman wants the choice to have an abortion, then mother's who keep and raise their child should have the choice of where to send their child to get a superior education.

My Child, My Choice
