fact: They would lose more business by allowing BLM clothing at work.

I don't get coffee there but I bet that would be true.

In other words, Starbucks is such a saturated addiction that they won't gain more customers by allowing it, but they will lose some if they do allow it.

Why do none of these companies understand that the woke twitterati are a small vocal minority propped up by sever censorship. Quit fucking pandering to them, they don't buy your shit, most because they can't cause they're broke lazy fucks. They don't represent the bulk of your customers. My mom worked at one for 12 years. Even the bulk of the workers were not woke, and the ones that were quit because it was a job and they were expected to work.

You're absolutely correct, same with nascar. You're not bringing in new blood with this virtue signaling but you are hurting what you do have. How bout you just have a good product served by happy people. THAT will bring in new blood.

This is what I'm saying. Twitter is to BLM, Antifa, and the rest of the far left as TD.win is to Trump supporters. As a business why concern yourself with what a far left echo chamber has to say about you? Most of them don't have the money for your coffee anyway.

Cause these companies dont care about profits. They care about ideology

They do eventually. They're riding on reserves for now, but when those start to dwindle, they will spend millions trying to figure out what we could tell them in 2 lines of text, realize they need to quit the political shit and make a pledge to be apolitical.

When Schultz left, Starbucks took quite a turn back to 'normal' (by their standards). Many of the workers were very very happy he left. I wasn't surprised by their first statement saying you couldn't wear BLM gear (as it was political). That was more the line they were trying to push, stay apolitical, make fucking money. I also wasn't surprised (but saddened) when they back tracked and caved. They got sick of losing money. Looks like they didn't learn their lesson hard enough the first time. Oh well, Starbucks near me is shit. I only go when my mom is in town and its discounted. Guess i'll save the calories.

Leftists can't resist virtue signaling. We even have this shit going on here in my small town. A local guy who is starting a new business here decided that it would be a good idea to promote the fact that it is a "queer" business and he also stuck a bunch of BLM signs all over the store front. This was quickly noticed by people who said that they wouldn't be patronizing that business, followed by other people calling them "racist" and "homophobic" for not wanting to support the business.

This is a politically mixed town, so injecting politics into your business is almost guaranteed to alienate half of your potential customers. The successful businesses here remain apolitical.

Darthrift 3 points ago +3 / -0

Agreed. You need both sides to be successful. Best way to do that, it to shut up and sell your stuff. Either let people put out no signs in your yard or all signs. We have a lady that runs a Chinese restaurant here in town and her only rule is, buy food at my place, and you can put down your sign. Smart. In front of her business is a mass of all the signs in the area, and I have no idea who she votes for. Never cared either, she makes fantastic fried rice, lol.

Yep. Starbucks is a company that spends a LOT of money on market research. If they put out a memo telling employees not to wear BLM gear, it probably means this: the executives know that most people are fucking sick of this shit.

I prefer my private businesses not to engage in political protests. I don't know why that's so fucking hard for the left to understand.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/starbucks-los-angeles-philadelphia-accused-of-racism/

That 2018 bathroom incident. And between then and now, no matter how much they grovel and abase themselves, its never enough for the woke extortionist crowd. Indeed, just by showing this vulnerability and weakness, just by paying tribute is an ironclad guarantee that the extorter will return for more demands. As they say, you don't negotiate with terrorists.

And it isn't that the ghetto grievance crowd, the violent anti-social dropouts or the smelly doped-up communists have such purchasing clout that their boycott means a damn thing to the bottom line. Its explicitly a terrorist threat against the business - its not a purchase boycott, its a promise for bricks and molotovs in the near future.

The extortion insanity would end if people stood their ground against the scum. Like it would against any other blackmail crime gang, for the same reason.

Spez: Aaaand they just buckled to the demands of the howling mob. Because of course they fucking did - the beatings will continue until morale improves!!

I don't normally patronize Starbucks, but once I was bored on a cold winter day during lunchtime, so I went in to have a coffee. There was some black bum sitting there with his shopping cart full of garbage.

A young white guy came in, and the the bored bum started yelling "I'm not gay, but you look like Clark Kent, white guy !".

The black manager had had about enough of this non-paying bum disrupting the place, Bum starts yelling "Go ahead, call the police !"

Police were there in minutes. I didn't stay for the next act of the drama.

The point is that Starbucks corporate could try to act woke and take the side of the black bums - but then the black manager will soon be out of a job when the white customers go elsewhere.

Once the statues are gone, it's not like they are going to stop. They will find something else.

Think about the progression over the last few years

Speaking against social justice is wrong!

Keeping silent and staying out of it is WRONG and VIOLENT!! You must positively affirm!

You MUST come protest, donate and KNEEL!

Its only going to get worse.

Silly thought, but I have always believed in positive reinforcement as much as negative reinforcement. I.E., you praise your kid for good grades or doing chores as much as you ground them for bad behavior or grades.

Cancel culture is evil, and frankly I've had my fill. I hate it.

I've been pondering for a bit that maybe, just maybe, I should go grab something in their drive through. Maybe I'll go grab some egg bites later. This doesn't mean I'll stop patronizing my local faves. I just think you need both sides of reinforcement to get through to someone. If they finally had their "republicans buy shoes too" moment, I want to help cement it.

Existential question for a woke leftist at Starbucks: How do I order a black coffee from a black barista?

2
marvelwall 2 points ago +2 / -0

they know their major customer base is basic WHITE girls.

Red-in-Tooth 2 points ago +2 / -0

B-b-but I was told the slippery slope was a fallacy!

Incompetents, normalization leads to this exact type of outcome. The more people are conditioned to believe in and expect something, the more of that same vein they will ask in the future, further pushing the bar along. Appeasement had never worked and never will.

If I walked into any shop and someone that works there is wearing anything BLM I would just walk the fuck out.

Don't even care if I have to get into a car and travel miles away to get something.

SPEZ: They caved.

CmonPeopleGetReal 1 point ago +1 / -0

Exactly, their demands are endless, just like gun control cucks.

They will demand they be allowed to wear it, then shame them into forcing their employees to do so, and any employee that doesn't wear it will be shamed into quitting.

Fuck em. I don’t have any sympathy. They alienated people on the right several years ago by pledging to hire Syrian refugees over US veterans. I stopped giving them money then. Now they burned the left. This is what happens when you fuck a stranger in the ass, Donnie.

I mean, they just announced Monday they were going to close 400 Stores ( I believe in the US and Canada) while Canada said it would close 200 stores, I'm not 100% if that is a net 600 stores or if Canada is 50% of the closures because of revenue lost due to COVID, however, Black Rifle Coffee is worth 30M or more and has consistently shown a profit.
